Red Wings Shown Up At Showcase
After losing their first game of the SJHL Showcase Monday night, the Red Wings were up against the Battlefords North Stars to finish things off. This game would only get worse the longer it went on, and the Red Wings would drop an 8-0 shutout loss.
To begin with, Mathieu Gautier had been suspended two games for his knee on knee collision in the game prior. Both teams dressed seven defencemen for the game, and the first seven minutes or so were fairly even until Eduard Wruck took a high sticking call in the midst of puck battle behind his net.
Penalty Troubles Plague Red Wings Against Bombers
After running the gambit against the Viterra Division in their first three games, the Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings traveled to Warman for their first game of the SJHL Showcase against the Flin Flon Bombers Monday night. While the Red Wings were the better team for a majority of the game, a trail to the penalty box would see the Red Wings lose 4-1.
The trail saw its first footsteps when Jackson Hassman would go to the box a minute into the game for holding, and once that penalty was killed Eduard Wruck would go to the box for a hooking call behind the net.
Red Wings Route Bruins in Home Opener
The Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings were quick to make a statement in the Highway 39 Rivalry's first edition of the year. The Wings scored quickly, often, and in a number of ways against the Bruins to take a 9-2 win.
Just two minutes into the game and the Red Wings were on the board with a goal from Kirk Mullen, generated by a forced turnover on the wall from Mathieu Gautier and a rebound from Mi-Kwan Tallman. On their next shift two minutes later, and Mullen would score his second of the night and fourth of the season again with assists from Gautier and Tallman.
