Red Wings Fall In Yorkton

The home team had carried the day during the first four games of the season series between the Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings and the Yorkton Terriers. The Red Wings were looking to break that trend Monday night when they travelled to the Westland Insurance Arena in Yorkton. The Terriers, however, would continue the trend, picking up a 5-3 victory.

The 384 fans at the game were treated to a flurry of activity throughout the first two periods, with seven of the game’s eight goals being scored in that span.

Red Wing Rally Comes Up Short in Kindersley

For the second night in a row, the Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings were in Kindersley to play the Klippers Wednesday. They were looking to avenge their loss Tuesday night, and came out with a jump in their step, keeping Kindersley on their heels in the very early moments of the game. Weyburn would also have the Klippers reeling in the second half of the game. In the end, though, the Klippers would pick up a win for the second night in a row over the Wings, winning 4-3.

Red Wings Stumble In Trip Opener

The Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings kicked off a pair of games in Kindersley against the Klippers Tuesday night. The Klippers would spend the night throwing everything but the kitchen sink at the Weyburn net, keeping starting goaltender Jackson Fellner on his toes, especially in the first 40 minutes of the game.

Fellner would face 37 shots by the end of the second period, turning aside 35 of those. He would be beaten once more in the third period and finished the game making 39 saves on 42 shots.

Red Wings Day Off

So, what does an SJHL team do when they find themselves with an unexpected day off? 

For the Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings, they spent Saturday on the ice and had fun doing so.

The team had a fun scrimmage with the U15 AA Annugas Wings at Crescent Point Place in the morning and followed it up with a skate with fans at the outdoor rink at the Weyburn Credit Union Spark Centre.

Red Wings Keeping Busy on Unexpected Weekend Off

The Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings found themselves with a rare weekend off when it was announced that the Yorkton Terriers, whom the Wings were scheduled to play Friday night, and the Notre Dame Hounds, the opponents on deck for Saturday, had both entered five-day pauses due to COVID-19. With the time now off, head coach of the Red Wings, Cody Mapes, got to work to find ways to keep his players active. 

Red Wings Have Games Postponed

The Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings were to be playing a pair of games this weekend but will have a weekend with no game action as both of their scheduled games have been postponed.

It was quietly announced by the SJHL that the Yorkton Terriers, who the Red Wings were scheduled to play Friday night, and the Notre Dame Hounds, the opponent for the Wings on Saturday, have entered a pause due to COVID-19 protocols. This has resulted in both games being postponed.
