Yesterday, it was announced that forward Liam Fitzgerald was the league’s Forward of the Week. This is the first time this season he has received the honour.

A goal in the first period would be all the Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings needed Friday night, as Angelo Zol made 22 saves for his league-leading fourth shutout of the season to help the Red Wings to a 1-0 win over the Nipawin Hawks.
"The boys played fantastic," Zol said after the game. "It was a good bounce-back win. They were blocking shots, clearing bodies, and they made my job easy tonight."
Josh Karman had the lone goal for the Red Wings, scoring with 8:19 remaining in the first period. Ethan Dekay and Jaxson Ruthven assisted with his fourth of the year.

“We wanted to make it big, we ended up with the Family Day game on our schedule, so we thought we'd make something of it as it's a holiday. People need something to do and why not come to a Red Wings game?”
Red Wings drop game in Melfort against Mustangs
The Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings went into the third period of last night’s game in Melfort against the Mustangs with a 3-2 lead. A pair of quick goals from the home team changed the Red Wings' fortunes, and Melfort managed to come away with a 4-3 victory.
“We battled hard, and it came down to a couple of bounces that went their way,” said Weyburn forward Braigh LeGrandeur after the game. “It’s something to build on, and we can definitely learn from it.”

The Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings got back into the win column Saturday night, and Ty Matonovich picked up his third straight win in goal, as they closed out their northern road swing with a 5-3 win over the La Ronge Ice Wolves.
Red Wings skid extends to three games in La Ronge
The Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings went into Friday's game in La Ronge against the Ice Wolves looking to break out of a funk after dropping two games in a row. The Ice Wolves, though, would score three goals in the second period - two on the power play - to beat Weyburn 4-2.
"We've got to start competing harder," said forward Matty Edwards, who scored the first goal of the game for the Red Wings in the second period. "It starts from the puck drop, first period, so if we have a better first period I think we'll be just all right."
Red Wings falter in Melfort
Special teams would prove to be the biggest difference last night, as the Melfort Mustangs scored five power play goals en route to a 5-2 win over the Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings.
“Melfort took it to us early in the game, and they kind of established a physical presence out there and we didn’t really have a response to it,” said assistant coach Casey O’Brien after the game.
