Red Wings continue homestand this weekend
The Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings will be continuing their homestand tonight as they welcome the Notre Dame Hounds to Crescent Point Place. This game will be the second of four at home.
The Red Wings are coming into the game having lost their past seven games.
This will be the second visit of the season to Crescent Point Place for Notre Dame. The season series is tied at a game each.
Red Wings shut out at home
The Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings welcomed the Nipawin Hawks to Crescent Point Place Tuesday night, hoping to snap a six-game losing skid. The last time the Wings had entertained the Hawks, back on October 15th, the Wings had picked up a 4-2 win, so they were hoping to repeat the performance.
Broncos stymie Red Wings in Humboldt
Heading into Humboldt Saturday night, the Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings were looking to break a five-game losing streak, while the Broncos were looking to extend their five-game winning streak. The two teams would go back and forth with plenty of opportunities all throughout the game, but in the end, it would be the Broncos who came out on top, skating to a 4-3 victory.
Red Wings Stymied By Bruins in Estevan
The Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings came into Estevan on Wednesday night looking to turn things around, having dropped their last four games. The Bruins, who have had Weyburn’s number so far this regular season, winning all six of the previous meetings this year, we're looking to make it seven straight victories over their storied rivals.
Despite the best efforts of Jackson Fellner, who made 43 saves, and a group of young players getting their first taste of the Highway 39 rivalry, the Bruins would be the ones to come out on top, picking up a 4-2 victory at Affinity Place.
Red Wings Fall In Yorkton
The home team had carried the day during the first four games of the season series between the Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings and the Yorkton Terriers. The Red Wings were looking to break that trend Monday night when they travelled to the Westland Insurance Arena in Yorkton. The Terriers, however, would continue the trend, picking up a 5-3 victory.
The 384 fans at the game were treated to a flurry of activity throughout the first two periods, with seven of the game’s eight goals being scored in that span.
Klippers Stymie Wings at CPP
For the first time since January 8th, the Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings entertained an opponent at Crescent Point Place Friday night. For the third time in four nights, they played the Kindersley Klippers, this time at the friendly confines of Crescent Point Place.
Red Wing Rally Comes Up Short in Kindersley
For the second night in a row, the Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings were in Kindersley to play the Klippers Wednesday. They were looking to avenge their loss Tuesday night, and came out with a jump in their step, keeping Kindersley on their heels in the very early moments of the game. Weyburn would also have the Klippers reeling in the second half of the game. In the end, though, the Klippers would pick up a win for the second night in a row over the Wings, winning 4-3.
Red Wings Stumble In Trip Opener
The Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings kicked off a pair of games in Kindersley against the Klippers Tuesday night. The Klippers would spend the night throwing everything but the kitchen sink at the Weyburn net, keeping starting goaltender Jackson Fellner on his toes, especially in the first 40 minutes of the game.
Fellner would face 37 shots by the end of the second period, turning aside 35 of those. He would be beaten once more in the third period and finished the game making 39 saves on 42 shots.
Red Wings Day Off
So, what does an SJHL team do when they find themselves with an unexpected day off?
For the Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings, they spent Saturday on the ice and had fun doing so.
The team had a fun scrimmage with the U15 AA Annugas Wings at Crescent Point Place in the morning and followed it up with a skate with fans at the outdoor rink at the Weyburn Credit Union Spark Centre.
Red Wings Keeping Busy on Unexpected Weekend Off
The Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings found themselves with a rare weekend off when it was announced that the Yorkton Terriers, whom the Wings were scheduled to play Friday night, and the Notre Dame Hounds, the opponents on deck for Saturday, had both entered five-day pauses due to COVID-19. With the time now off, head coach of the Red Wings, Cody Mapes, got to work to find ways to keep his players active.
