Goldeyes shut out by Chicago in series finale

The Winnipeg Goldeyes (13-17) were held off the scoreboard Thursday evening, dropping a 3-0 decision to the Chicago Dogs (15-16) at Impact Field in the finale of a three-game series.
 
After scoring 19 runs and hitting nine home runs over the first two games of the set, the Goldeyes were shut out for the second time in four contests.
 

Storm star Kempthorne excited for Showcase weekend

The AA Westman Storm are heading to Brandon for a big Showcase event and one of their star players, Emerson Kempthorne, says the group is ready to impress.

"The girls, they're all really good people," Kempthorne says when talking about why this year has been so special. "We have great coaches, too. Everyone works hard and wants to be there. Everybody fits into their roles on the team perfectly."

Bats stay hot in a 57's loss to Mavericks

That bats stayed hot, but the Swift Current 57's fell 17-8 to Medicine Hat in a high scoring game in the WCBL last night. 

Swift Current product Brody Alexandre went 3 for 4 with a run scored and 4 RBIs.

Donovan Borg scored 3 times for the 57's in the loss, while Braxton Vail went 2 for 4 and scored twice in the game.

The Mavericks built up a 9-1 lead before Swift Current's hitting made a bit more interesting in the later innings.

Portage Pitbulls short on players in two divisions

The Portage Pitbulls Football Club is calling on local families to help get two of its youth teams on the field this season, as registration deadlines quickly approach.

Club president Luke Irwin says they’re looking for more athletes in two key age groups.

“We are short on players for the Atom age group, which is the 2014 and 2015 age group, and as well as the Peewee age group, which is 2012 and 2013,” he notes. “We have to declare our teams by the end of the week on Sunday at 9 p.m.”

Miller Express outslug Dawgs in extra-inning thriller

The Moose Jaw Miller Express battled back from an early deficit to edge the Okotoks Dawgs 12-11 in a dramatic extra-inning win on Wednesday night at Ross Wells Park. 

It was a rough start for the Miller Express, who gave up five runs in the top of the first inning. But the home side answered quickly, scoring three runs in the bottom half. Austin Gurney delivered a two-run single to bring home Thomas Soto and William Edwards, and Tanner DeGrazia added a sacrifice fly to centre field to plate Gurney and make it a 5-3 game. 

Klippers assistant GM shares more on draft day decisions

The 2025 SJHL Draft came and went on Tuesday with the Kindersley Jr. Klippers making eight selections to bolster their prospect pool.

For anyone wondering what goes in the war room, Klippers assistant GM Ryan Gibson did his best to describe the setting.
