MJHL coaching wins record holder signs on for another three seasons
The MJHL's all-time winningest coach has decided to continue his run with the Portage Terriers, without much deliberation.
Blake Spiller and his staff are now set for Blake's twentieth season as the team's bench boss and General Manager, and twenty-fifth season total.
Spiller says it's nice to have the deal done and that he has high hopes for the team's return this fall.
Brooks earns split with Miller Express
The Okotoks Dawgs came from behind to pick up an 11–9 win over the Moose Jaw Miller Express on Thursday, splitting a two-game series.
Thursday night was a slugfest at Ross Wells Park as the teams combined for five home runs.
The Miller Express held a 4–0 lead before giving up seven unanswered runs between the fourth and seventh innings.
U17 Thrashers rally to close out season with win over Chaos Green
The U17 Panther Drilling Weyburn Thrashers wrapped up their regular season with a 5-2 win over the Regina Chaos Green Thursday night at Crescent Point Place.

Chanse Vigen, who now calls Calgary home, finished in first place after one night of racing at the Medicine Hat Exhibition and Stampede.
Vigen, defending his title, raced through on a slow, somewhat muddy track in a penalty-free time of 1:05.07.
Locally, High River's Jason Glass came in 13th, with DeWinton's Dayton Sutherland coming in 21st and Blackie's Jordie Fike came through in 30th but he did get dinged for a two second penalty for a false start.
Jason Glass is in first place in the world standings.
Beavers stymie Regina at Tom Laing Park
A dramatic seventh inning proved to be the turning point as the Weyburn Beavers powered past the Regina Red Sox 7-4 Thursday night at Tom Laing Park, thanks to clutch hitting, strong pitching, and some emotional fireworks.
18UAAA Red Sox fall just short of comeback against the Cubs
The East Central 18UAAA Red Sox made a valiant comeback effort last night in Muenster against a five-run deficit to the Saskatoon Cubs but fell just short with an 8-6 final score.
After a double by the Cubs Reese Brons opened the scoring with one run, the Red Sox rallied off a Blake Morelli single to take a 2-1 lead.
Cubs Trenton Kooy sent a solo shot over the ivy in the 3rd to tie it up. An error in the 4th gave the Cubs another leg up with a single and a 3-2 lead.
A ray of hope for the Aces to remain in the SEMHL
The Ste. Anne Aces continue to do what they can to remain in the Southeast Manitoba Hockey League, and after raising concerns to Hockey Manitoba, a re-vote has been ordered.
In an email from Hockey Manitoba, "(Ste. Anne) brought up concerns regarding the voting process and surrounding circumstances that were used to remove them from the SEMHL, and they are contesting that the SEMHL By-Laws and Regulations do not identify a clear process to remove a team from competition."
Largest group of Czechia players yet in Cochrane
The role hockey can play in developing youth stretches far beyond skill development.
Case in point is the relationship struck between P3 Sports and the Overseas Agency, which has continued to grow since the first group of 55 Czech players came here in the spring of 2022.
This week, 77 young Czech players arrived in Cochrane—the largest group yet—for a month of hockey training, developing their English skills, and forming friendships with local youth.

Goldeyes shut out by Chicago in series finale
The Winnipeg Goldeyes (13-17) were held off the scoreboard Thursday evening, dropping a 3-0 decision to the Chicago Dogs (15-16) at Impact Field in the finale of a three-game series.
After scoring 19 runs and hitting nine home runs over the first two games of the set, the Goldeyes were shut out for the second time in four contests.
