U13 AAA Wildcats rookie Berkeley Penner thrilled to be heading to Western's

In her first year with the U13 AAA Eastman Wildcats, standout player Berkeley Penner has grown as a player, made lots of new friends, and will get to travel Abbotsford, British Columbia, all through the game she loves.

Hosting provincials this past weekend was a big deal, and Penner says the team did very well. "I feel like my team and I did quite well," the 12-year-old star says with a humble smile. "We played well against the other teams, and I feel like we got very close to winning gold."

Murdoch leads Berries over 57's

It was another successful return to Mitchell Field for Swift Current's Ethan Murdoch.

He went 2 for 3 with 3 RBIs and a run scored as his Saskatoon Berries beat the Swift Current 57's 11-4 in WCBL action last night.

Wilmer Henriquez hit a solo home run and scored twice in a losing cause for the 57's.

It was his 10th home run of the season.

The Berries roughed up 57's all-star pitcher Adam Korte for 8 earned runs in 3 2/3 innings of work.

Calvin Junek allowed only a run on 2 hits in 4 innings of his first start for Saskatoon.

Berries slugger leads way at WCBL All-Star Game; 2026 event going to Saskatoon

The Saskatoon Berries made one last stop in Alberta after a 2-2 road trip against Okotoks and Lethbridge. Six Berries were part of the WCBL All-Star festivities, pitchers Tanner Hosick and Matt Whitney, joining position players catcher Bailyn Sorensen, infielders Abiam Medina and Ethan Menard, and finally outfielder Carter Beck.

Menard, a native of Louisiana, competed in the home run derby before the game. He might have had a little extra Cajun fueled juice in the tank with some special visitors in attendance at Seaman Stadium from back home.

U17 Sonic proud of their season

After finishing third in the Saskatchewan softball 17U B provincials, Swift Current Sonics Head Coach Terry Pavely is proud of the way his team competed.

"We probably played better small ball than any other team in the tournament and maybe the province throughout the year," Pavely said. "Our bunting and our baserunning was superior to most teams.

"A kid might have got up to bat and hit a triple and a double, and the next time we asked them to bunt the ball. Our girls would lay it down. Whatever they could do to help their team they would."

Sam Rissling wins Strongman Classic in Shaunavon

It was a display of raw power, grit, and community spirit at this year’s Boomtown Days Strongman Classic. When the dust settled, Saskatchewan’s own Sam Rissling stood tall literally and figuratively as the champion.

For Sam Rissling, who has been competing in Strongman for nine years, this victory was more than just another medal; it was a celebration of the journey that started in a gym and led to a life on the national stage.
