La Broquerie council candidate apologizes for actions caught on camera
A La Broquerie council candidate has apologized for his actions caught on video camera.
The video shows Timo Gerzen walking up to a house while on the campaign trail. Gerzen can then be seen removing another candidate's pamphlet tucked inside the door of that house and placing the pamphlet in his binder before the resident opens the door.
Gerzen says he should have handed that pamphlet to the homeowner when they opened the door. He says he does not know what he was thinking and there is no way to go back and change his actions.

Results are in for the 2022 Municipal Election in Sioux Lookout.
Doug Lawrance has been acclaimed as Mayor. This will be Lawrance’s third term as Mayor of the community, after first being elected in 2014 and re-elected in 2018. He defeated former Mayor Dennis Leney for the seat.
“I’m expecting more of the same direction that we had. We’ll see the direction the new council will want to take. But I believe we’ll carry on doing what we’ve been doing and continue making progress,” said Lawrance, before council results were released.
Harrison elected as Dryden’s new Mayor
Former forester Jack B. Harrison has been named as Dryden’s newest Mayor.
Harrison defeated former Councillor Shayne MacKinnon for the seat with 69 per cent of the community’s votes.
Poirier named as Kenora’s 9th Mayor
Voters in the City of Kenora have named Andrew Poirier has the city’s 9th Mayor.
“I’m feeling great,” said Poirier, who was celebrating the news at Bob’s Burgers. “Some surprises on council, but very happy.”
Poirier is well-seasoned in public administration, having over 30 years of experience. Before this current term, he held a seat on Council from 2003 – 2009. He says he plans to tackle social issues downtown as one of his top priorities.
GVSD candidates outline priorities in all-candidates forum
Candidates vying for a seat in Garden Valley School Division's Ward One this election participated in an all-candidates forum Thursday at Emerado Centennial School in Winkler. The event was hosted by the Winkler and District Chamber of Commerce.

Scott Gillingham shares his vision for Winnipeg
A former Winnipeg pastor has his eyes set on the mayor's seat of the City of Winnipeg.
Scott Gillingham has been a city councillor for the past eight years, and says that he believes now is the perfect time for him to lead the city. "Right now, I believe I have the right combination of the current experience on council to know what we do well at the City of Winnipeg, what we need to do different to make Winnipeg stronger, and then what we need to do to seize the opportunities that will make our city healthier and grow our city for the future.
Michelle Gawronsky looking to use her experience to benefit Stuartburn as Reeve
Michelle Gawronsky is running for Reeve in the RM of Stuartburn.
Gawronsky describes herself as a mother, grandmother, healthcare worker, former union president and an extremely proud member of her community.
“I have been involved in my community since we moved out here approximately 35 or 37 years ago and I have sat on the board for Girl Guides, I volunteer at the Vita Hall, I volunteer at the curling rink, I am also one of the founding members of the Vita Canada Day Committee so I am extremely proud of the community I live in.”
Last day to vote for your local Mayor, Council
Today is the last day to vote in the 2022 Municipal Election!
Polls will close down by 8 p.m. tonight, and thanks to the new electronic voting system, staff say the region should know their new Mayors and Councillors by 8:15 p.m. or so.
