Town of Claresholm urges caution after reports of hawk dive-bombing pedestrians
The Town of Claresholm is cautioning residents to steer clear of a section of 52nd Avenue East, where a protective hawk has reportedly been dive-bombing passersby to defend her nest and chicks.
According to a Facebook post from the Town, Alberta Fish and Wildlife has received reports of these incidents occurring on 52nd Avenue East between 2nd and 3rd Street.
An interactive exhibit is part of summertime displays at the Okotoks Art Gallery
The Okotoks Art Gallery has their summer exhibits on display for everyone to enjoy.
They have two exhibits for the summer, the Member Show and Sale and the Colour Your World, which have become a bit of a tradition at the Gallery.
According to the Assistant Curator at the Art Gallery, Katrina Lougheed, the Member Show and Sale started during Covid.

Fortis Alberta reported an unplanned power outage Wednesday (July 9).
The outage spanned from Foothills County to the MD of Willow Creek.
Restoration was completed Wednesday afternoon.

Woman wanted in sexual assault of minor arrested following public tip
A woman wanted on warrants for the sexual assault and sexual interference of a minor has been located and arrested.
On Tuesday, July 8, the Calgary Police Service asked the public for help locating 49-year-old Regina Carla Fitzgerald.
Fitzgerald is alleged to have approached a 13-year-old boy near the Somerset-Bridlewood CTrain station on June 1, made sexual comments to him, and then touched him inappropriately.
The following afternoon, CPS provided an update stating that Fitzgerald had been located and arrested, thanks to a tip from the public.
Alberta has highest measles cases per capita in North America as summer travel gets underway
Alberta has the most measles cases in North America on a per-capita basis, worrying experts who say summer events could push case counts even higher.
The province’s former chief medical officers of health Dr. Mark Joffe says that’s twice the rate of confirmed cases in Ontario.
Ontario has been deemed Canada's epicentre of the outbreak in absolute case numbers, reporting 1,910 confirmed infections since its outbreak began in October, but with a population three times the size as Alberta.
A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for Vulcan and parts of Foothills County
Vulcan County and parts of Foothills County are currently under a severe thunderstorm watch.
Environment Canada issued the severe thunderstorm watch, because conditions are favourable for the development of dangerous thunderstorms which could be capable of producing damaging wind gusts, rain, or large hail.

Turner Valley Gas Plant among 13 Alberta sites offering free summer admission
A historic site in Diamond Valley is among a select group of Alberta heritage sites and museums offering free and discounted admission this summer.
The initiative is part of the Canada Strong Pass program, which runs from July 4 to Sept. 2.
During this time, 13 historic sites and museums across Alberta are offering free admission for youth aged 17 and under, as well as for adults aged 18 to 24.
Road closure in place in Aldersyde due to water pipeline work
Continued work on the Foothills Okotoks Regional Water Project will result in a road closure in Foothills County for several days.
From July 9 to 12, 128 Street E, south of 274 Avenue E, will be closed while crews install a supply main.
Work is scheduled from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays, and from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekends.
Detours will be in place during the closure, with traffic redirected onto Highway 552.
People will be dancing in the plaza, again, all summer in Okotoks
For the third year, Okotokians will be able to enjoy free music and dance in the plaza all summer long.
Each Thursday night throughout summer, the Town of Okotoks is hosting their Thursday Nights at the Plaza, beginning this Thursday.
From 7 to 9 p.m. at the Olde Town Plaza (50 McRae St.) each Thursday, there will be free, family-friendly live music that everyone is invited to enjoy.
At the Plaza this Thursday (July 10), local band, The Back 40 will be taking the stage.
Rare stellar explosion could light up the night sky this year

T Coronae Borealis, a binary star system and recurrent nova located roughly 3,000 light-years from Earth, is expected to erupt sometime in 2025.
According to Dr. Phil Langill, Director of the Rothney Astrophysical Observatory and Associate Professor of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Calgary, a recurrent nova is very different from a regular supernova.
