Lunch is served: Seed N Feed fuels the farm life
Although recent rain brought seeding to a temporary halt, local farmer Murray King was all smiles when he received a lunch delivery through Seed N Feed presented by Mack Auction Company.
King, who farms near Frobisher, said this year’s seeding got off to a strong start, with only a few minor mechanical issues before the rain hit.
“We had a good start to the season, besides a few little minor breakdowns,” he said. “I guess we could have probably been done before the rain, but I need four days, it'll dry up, and we’ll get ’er done.”
Muri Farm the first for Seed and Feed
A family farm near Hodgeville was the first destination for this year's Seed and Feed.
Our team brought a K-Motel lunch to the crew from Muri Farm yesterday.
"We're multigenerational," said Megan Muri. "My husband, his dad, his brother, and my husband's grandfather all farm together as well as my dad, and we have some hired help as well."
It's been a quick seeding so far for the Muri farm.
"It went really fast," she said. "We started really early, and the rain came at the right time. We've got about 160 acres left."
Who is the Classroom of the Month for May?
A Strathmore junior high class was nominated as Classroom of the Month!
On Thursday, May 22, the 104.5 More Country and StrathmoreNow crew visited George Freeman School to congratulate Jillian Terry’s class.
“Just a neat opportunity to share with the kids and recognize kids, especially junior high kids. They don’t always get that recognition. So, it’s kind of fun for them. They are very pumped,” said Terry, reflecting on the nomination.

Meals On The Farm delivery four: Hilton Ventures
The crew at 104.5 More Country visited Hilton Ventures to thank them for all their hard work.
Spencer Hilton, a farmer with Hilton Farmers, explained to StrathmoreNow what a good season looks like.
"I guess what makes a good season for us in terms of what we are hoping for, is good moisture right to the surface, because then we can seed shallow and get the seed in the ground."
The farm is seeding canola, wheat, and barley.
Hitlon has spent nearly half his life in farming and still loves it.
