When a festival features honey, garlic, and maple syrup all in one place, you know it is going to be unforgettable. The Honey Garlic Maple Syrup Festival is back in Manitou on Saturday, September 6th, and volunteer organizer Juanita "Wally" Cobb promises a full day of food, fun, and community spirit.

The Lakeshore Regional Wellness Commission is preparing to open its new wellness centre in Ashern on September 27. The event will be paired with a wellness expo taking place at the Ashern Centennial Hall, just steps away from the new facility.

Tim Cameron, event coordinator and past president of the commission, says the opening marks the end of a long effort to repurpose the former curling rink, which shut down in 2016 due to costly repairs and declining membership.

It's Throwback Thursday - just a minute to remember the good old days.

For almost as long as I can remember, I've enjoyed my own company. I don't mind being alone. In fact, I like it. 

I'm thinking about that today as I read about an article in Psychology Today that found talking to yourself, especially out loud, can be beneficial for mental performance, emotional regulation and learning.

A recent study concludes talking aloud helps us complete complex tasks, providing real-time feedback and reinforcement.

Grain Rush, driven by Great Plains Ford, continued today as we took some delicious KFC out to Steve Van De Sype and his crew, thanks to Stoughton Veterinary Clinic!  

Steve noted that they are roughly halfway through harvest, but isn’t looking forward to what Mother Nature is promising to bring.  

Every year, a group of motorcycle enthusiasts in town gets together to support a great cause, and this year will be no different.  

The Weyburn Independent Riders will once again be hosting their annual Toy Run for the Salvation Army.  

Grain Rush is back in the southeast, with farmers getting lunchtime meals from KFC over the next few weeks, thanks to sponsors such as NextAcre Real Estate. The very first meal went out to Fichter Farms, which operates just outside of Bienfait.

Todd Fichter says that the farm is just about ready to switch over crops at this time.

"Just about done with wheat today. Tomorrow will be our last day of wheat, and then on to canola."

Prairie Sky Co-op will bring the food, fun, and community spirit for a free event this afternoon from 3 to 6 p.m. The first annual Customer Appreciation Barbecue will be held in the Weyburn Food Store parking lot, kicking off a new tradition that hearkens back to a preceding custom.

The Pembina Threshermen’s Museum is gearing up for one of its biggest weekends of the year, Reunion Days, happening Friday, September 5 and Saturday, September 6. This annual celebration brings history to life with threshing demonstrations, horse-drawn wagon rides, live entertainment, incredible food, and a whole lot of old-fashioned fun.
