Much anticipated Ashern wellness centre set to hold grand opening this month
The Lakeshore Regional Wellness Commission is preparing to open its new wellness centre in Ashern on September 27. The event will be paired with a wellness expo taking place at the Ashern Centennial Hall, just steps away from the new facility.
Tim Cameron, event coordinator and past president of the commission, says the opening marks the end of a long effort to repurpose the former curling rink, which shut down in 2016 due to costly repairs and declining membership.

It's Throwback Thursday - just a minute to remember the good old days.
For almost as long as I can remember, I've enjoyed my own company. I don't mind being alone. In fact, I like it.
I'm thinking about that today as I read about an article in Psychology Today that found talking to yourself, especially out loud, can be beneficial for mental performance, emotional regulation and learning.
A recent study concludes talking aloud helps us complete complex tasks, providing real-time feedback and reinforcement.

Grain Rush begins as Fichter Farms hopes to start wrapping up harvest
Grain Rush is back in the southeast, with farmers getting lunchtime meals from KFC over the next few weeks, thanks to sponsors such as NextAcre Real Estate. The very first meal went out to Fichter Farms, which operates just outside of Bienfait.
Todd Fichter says that the farm is just about ready to switch over crops at this time.
"Just about done with wheat today. Tomorrow will be our last day of wheat, and then on to canola."
