My family moved to Heartland in 2021 from Calgary. I am originally from Saskatchewan but my husband's family has been in Cochrane since 1997.
Shining light on Special Olympics through Marathon of Sport event ▶️
The 2024 Marathon of Sport Winnipeg is a wonderful event that showcases the talent and tenacity of individuals with intellectual disabilities.
"Motionball is a national not-for-profit organization and it empowers young Canadians to be leaders in our communities, raising funds and awareness for Special Olympics," says Paige Small, co-event Director of Motionball Winnipeg.
The Marathon of Sport Winnipeg takes place September 15 from 9:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. at the Dakota Community Centre, hosted by Motionball Winnipeg.

So, the Moose Jaw Events Centre has joined arenas and stadiums across the country by announcing a strict, new "No Re-Entry" policy. Once you're in, you're in. Once you leave, you're gone.
It has some local hockey fans and concert goers upset because they won't be able to go outside to smoke during intermissions.
It's OK with me but I empathize because I used to be addicted to those nasty cigarettes.

The Terry Fox Run is back this Sunday, September 15
The Terry Fox Run is back for another year. The event goes this Sunday, September 15 from 10:30 am until noon. As has been the case for the past few years, the run starts off at Midland Glass, 520 10th Street in Humboldt.
Participants can run, walk, bike or participate with mobility vehicles, and they’re welcome to choose their own distance or select maps for 2.5, 5, or 20 kilometre routes.
WYC hosting 31st annual fundraising banquet
The Weyburn Youth Centre (WYC) is gearing up for their 31st annual banquet fundraiser. The event will be held at Knox Hall on October 5th at 6 p.m. with doors opening at 5 p.m. A turkey dinner will be served, followed by both a live and silent auction. Board member with WYC, Susan Adderley, says they’re doing something different this year.
“We're having a 50s, 60s theme night with a DJ. We thought we'd change it up, make it a little bit more fun. We're super excited about it.”
