Terry Fox Run continues to carry torch of legacy, fighting cancer for all Canadians ▶️

The Marathon of Hope started with one man, Terry Fox, but Canadians continue to carry on his legacy.

"Terry Fox has impacted so many Canadians," says Carissa Robb, the Director of Community Development in Manitoba and Saskatchewan with the Terry Fox Foundation. "His attitude is what keeps us going. It's incredible for such a young man, how mature he was, his ethics, determination and perseverance, it's admirable and keeps me, and the hundreds of volunteers going year after year."

Shop local artisans this weekend at the third annual Gallery in the Park Blue House Market

As part of the Pembina Valley Studio Tour, happening this coming weekend, the Blue House Market is returning for the third year to Altona's Gallery in the Park (GITP). The event will take place Saturday, September 14th inside the Schwartz House.

There will be twenty-one vendors at the market, which is one up from last year, they will be set up on both floors of the Schwartz House and some will even be selling their wares outside on the patio as well!

A total of 24 exhibits representing 22 countries and First Nations plus 14 msuical performances filled the Cochrane Lions Event Centre on Sept. 7.

The anniversary of 9/11: Insight to the world of first responders with Morden Fire & Rescue

Where were you when it happened? Even 23 years later, this question is commonplace as the events of 9/11 continue to haunt the collective consciousness of North Americans.

Captain Jonathan Baumgart of Morden Fire & Rescue was a recent high school graduate on September 11th, 2001.

Second Meals in the Field winner Donald Tufts passing farming passion on to 4th generation

Minto area farmers Keith, Donald and Derek Tufts and their families enjoyed their Meal on the Farm through CJRB's harvest contest.  The Tufts family farm was originally purchased in 1911 by Donald's grandfather. Son Keith took over the farm and then his son, Donald carried on the passion for farming from there.  Fourth generation, Derek, and is dad Donald farm together on the original Tufts homestead west of Minto near Fairfax, MB.

The Wednesday meal was provided by Boissevain's Home Hotel and delivered to the Tufts family farm west of Minto.

Pioneer Lodge raising money through garage sale & BBQ

No matter how old you are, recreational activities are important for morale and health.

The Pioneer Lodge is hosting a garage sale on Friday starting at 8 AM to raise money for their recreation department. All coming from donations, the garage sale will include household items, clothing, toys, garden items, and much more.

There will also be a barbeque running from 11 - 1 on Friday. Five dollars will get you a hot dog and pop. 

Dorothy Bodeux is the Volunteer of the Month for August

Dorothy Bodeux is the 104.5 More Country Volunteer of the Month for August.

Bodeux was in the studio on Wednesday (Sept. 11) and said she was excited to hear the news.

"I was overwhelmed, I have no other words than that. I was shocked."

Bodeux has dedicated her time to many different volunteer opportunities around Strathmore.
