Blush Hair Studio is looking good with the McCafé Coffee Break

Blush Studio had more than just a pop of colour in their day when CochraneNow and Cochrane McDonald’s showed up with a McCafé Coffee Break.

The crew swapped brushes for coffee cups, enjoying fresh brews and cookies to start their morning off in style.

They were nominated HERE, and this was attached to the nomination:

'She's my radio baby': Former DJ Christy Fabbri recounts going into labour on the air

Christy Fabbri was a hairdresser before joining the CHVN team, which would lead to a very memorable moment for the entire Fabbri family.

Not knowing anything about radio, she was at work doing a CHVN employee's hair when she was encouraged to apply. "I had an acting background. I was doing someone's hair that worked here, and she's like, 'You have an acting background. You should come in and apply,'" Fabbri said.

Adorable Adoptables: Mackay and Bundaberg steal the spotlight

Meet Mackay and Bundaberg, two kittens with names as fun as their personalities. These five-month-old cuties are ready to find their forever homes.

“They came into the shelter not being socialized,” says Robyn Roy, communications coordinator with the Humane Society. “They were strays for the first chunk of their lives, but we’ve worked on their socialization and now they’re ready for adoption.”

Items Urgently Needed at La Broquerie Helping hands

La Broquerie Helping Hands has recently seen the need for hampers rise significantly in the communities they serve.

The organization was able to move into a new building last year, and since that time their list of recipients has doubled. Right now, they are experiencing a lull in donations, and have put out an ask to the community for the following items:

-Pasta sauce

-Rice

-Pancake mix

-Zoodles

-Sidekicks

-Canned tomatoes

-Canned fruit

-Almond milk 

United Way supports Estevan students with school programs

The United Way Estevan is once again stepping up to support local schools as students head back to class this fall.

Executive Director Heidi Hesselink explained that one of the organization’s main focus areas is helping children reach their full potential, which includes funding several school-based initiatives. Programs currently supported in Estevan include the Hillcrest Breakfast Club, the Estevan Comprehensive School (ECS) Student in Need lunch program, and Muffin Mornings at ECS.

Brooke & Koda’s Iced Tea Stand raises over $26,000 for local girl battling cancer

It was another record-breaking year for “Brooke and Koda’s Iced Tea Stand,” the grassroots fundraiser started by two kids that has grown into one of the most inspiring community traditions in the southeast.

This summer, the stand raised a whopping $26,650 to help four-year-old Callie Augustine, who is currently battling B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B-ALL).
