Independent consultant speaks on internet safety
Val Caldwell, an independent consultant from Hamiota, has been traveling across Manitoba and Saskatchewan to educate schools and communities on the critical topic of internet safety and child protection. Val, who speaks to young people about online dangers, shared, “My main focus is to speak to as many kids as I can to try and keep as many kids as I can safe.”
From wrecked to restored: Repair cafe a success in Weyburn
Last Saturday the Sask Waste Reduction Council (SWRC) hosted a repair cafe at the Weyburn Public Library. Discover Weyburn's Shelby Proznick attended the event, she says around 20 people came to get things repaired. One person in particular had been trying to get their icemaker fixed for months and was finally able to get it done thanks to one of the volunteers.
The SWRC plans to hold these events annually.

Carving out a winner with the Pumpkin Decorating Contest
The voting period for the Pumpkin Decorating Contest on Swift Current Online is underway.
Nineteen submissions were submitted to Swift Current Online over the last two weeks, and the public will now have their chance to pick the winning pumpkins throughout the next three days.
Three age categories have been arranged for voting, children aged 0-10, individuals aged 11-16, and people aged 16+.
