RCMP Report to October 16, 2024

The following is the RCMP report to October 16th, 2024.  This reporting period, police responded to the following calls for service.

 

- 70 traffic violations

- 19 provincial statute (Mental Health Act, Fire Prevention Act, Coroner's Act, 911 Act)

- 30 common police activities (alarms, suspicious persons/vehicles, assistance to general public)

- 24 crimes against property 

- 7 other criminal code

- 9 crimes against person

- 4 traffic accidents

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT:

Winner takes home $$$ in launch of Legion's Chase the Ace

One lucky winner has taken home hundreds of dollars in the initial Chase the Ace Progressive 50/50 draw.

Held every Wednesday at 7 p.m., Veronika Kierzek took home $344 in the weekly prize. The Jack of Spades was revealed, and 51 cards remaining, meaning there remains plenty of opportunities to win hard cash.

The progressive jackpot started at $516 and will keep growing until won.

One pledge to the power of eight: helping out at Communithon goes a long way in Weyburn

All hands will be on deck at the 43rd annual Weyburn Communithon, airing live from the Weyburn Legion between 8 a.m. and 11 p.m.  this Friday. Those hands include dozens of volunteers from not only the eight community agencies involved, but also from community members, as well as entertainers into the hundreds including those participating in the school performances.

Tasha Collins has been taking part for 13 years on behalf of the Weyburn Branch of the CMHA, one of the organizations included in the annual telethon.

Harmony Arts ready for the Jungle Book Kids!

The Harmony Arts Program is almost ready for their production of The Jungle Book Kids!

The cast members have been working hard since the beginning of September. The musical is set to take the stage at the Art Museum Theatre in the Moose Jaw Public Library on Sunday, November 3.

A LEGO lover’s dream: Estevan to host free BRICKERY event

BRICKERY: A Gallery of LEGO Creations returns to the Estevan Leisure Centre this weekend, showcasing an impressive array of LEGO masterpieces built by members of the Saskatchewan LEGO Users Group (S.L.U.G.). Now in its seventh year, the event promises to deliver fun for LEGO enthusiasts of all ages.

The event will be held on Saturday, October 26, at the Senior Centre, just down the hall from the Estevan Public Library. Running from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., the gallery is free for all to attend.

It's Throwback Thursday - just a minute to remember the good ol' days.

I was still in high school in 1983 when I learned one of my favourite bands was on the road for a reunion tour. I was only 10 years old when they broke up so I had never seen them perform live.

The Guess Who was together again and one of their shows was at the Centre of the Arts in Regina.

The Harvest Pantry - Opening October 28th

The Moose Jaw & District Food Bank, in partnership with the Moose Jaw Co-op, is about to launch a new "food provision model" that will offer a more "dignified and personalized experience" for local families in need of assistance.

Jason Moore, Executive Director at the Moose Jaw & District Food Bank and Geoff Anderson, CEO at the Moose Jaw Co-op, came in for a visit to tell us all about "The Harvest Pantry".
