Free family movie night coming to South Hill

Moose Jaw families are in for a nostalgic treat this weekend as the South Hill Community Association hosts a free outdoor movie night at Smith Park. The event is set for Saturday, August 23rd at 8:30 PM.

The featured film is none other than the beloved classic E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial. Attendees are encouraged to bring their lawn chairs, blankets, snacks, and drinks; the association will provide free popcorn to enjoy during the movie.

Dead Prairies Productions gearing up for a trifecta of local events

Dead Prairies Productions is gearing up for a busy schedule of events.

September will see the local film company running a few different shows and venues, raising money for both a local venue and the Swift Current SPCA.

Devon Oman, president of Dead Prairies Productions, has already sold out of tickets for his upcoming film premiere of The Silver Scream. The 17th DPP film will be shown at The Lyric Theatre in Swift Current on September 6th.

Photo Central remembers founding father

Photo Central is celebrating the life of a father and business visionary this month.  

Dick Toews, who founded the business in 1991, passed away earlier this month at the age of 85. According to his son, Andrew Toews, the present owner of Photo Central, a love of photography was instilled in him from an early age, growing up on the family farm outside the small community of Kane where his family also ran the general store. 

NCC hosts virtual exploration of the Southwest Sandhills

A quartet of conservation groups are gearing up for a virtual tour of the Southwest Sandhills this Thursday, set to delve into the land management, flora, and fauna present in the area.

Thanks to the collaboration between the Nature Conservancy of Canada, Nature Saskatchewan, Birds Canada, and the Southwest Sheep Pasture, folks will get to learn all about one of Saskatchewan's natural treasures.
