Central Plains Cancer Services (CPCS) has been preparing for fall programming with some adjustments to a program that is returning.

Last fall, CPCS began hosting a wellness retreat at Southport for survivors and thrivers of a cancer diagnosis. Sharilyn Knox, Executive Director of CPCS, notes that this year's edition is starting to fill up already.

Bethesda Place in Steinbach was transformed into a lively Wild West scene this week, complete with country music, Western décor, and an extra dose of fun for residents. 

Wild West fun brings music, memories, and plenty of toe-tapping 

Recreation coordinator Sheryl Harder says they try to host one big event each summer, and this year’s idea started with music and grew from there. 

“We wanted to have a music band to really liven this place up and then the décor followed behind that and then the food followed after,” Harder explains. 

As the calendar flips deeper into August, there’s a growing sense that summer is slipping away. That’s when many of us start making a mental checklist of all the things we still want to squeeze in before the season ends. 

We asked "What’s one thing you always want to do before the summer ends?" The answers ranged from camping trips to county fairs—and more than a few bonfires. 

Members of the community gathered at Abundant Life Baptist Church,1396 Plessis Road, for their Family Funday on Saturday afternoon.

It was a welcoming and warm time of games, food, crafts and bouncy castles. It was free and open to all to participate in and enjoy.

"It's a fun day for family, we have food, some games, and bouncy castles," shared Brad Quiring, the Lead Pastor of Abundant Life Baptist Church.

Dozens of motorcyclists gathered on Saturday morning at Deacon's Corner in Springfield for the Guardians of the Children's 'Empower the Children' motorcycle ride.

Guardians of the Children is an advocacy organization that supports and protects children who have endured abuse. The organization has a motorcycle-focused outreach.

The group supports victims of child abuse by accompanying them to court and holding family-focused events to foster healing and healthy connections.

Thursday evening began one of Grunthal’s favourite weekends.  Hanover Ag fair started celebrations with the Bull Riders Canada Invitational, an outdoor movie, and a party in the dirt.  

Today brings family fun for everyone on a beautiful Saturday in the southeast. The morning showcased a parade, vendor villages, and world-famous chicken.
