Tenth anniversary Country 93 parking lot party showcases Manitoba talent
It was a perfect night for an outdoor party.
With the temperature peaking at a modern-day record of 31 degrees at 5 o'clock, the first people began to show up. The food trucks from Mole Guacamole, Gotta Have that Lemonade and No Ordinary Dog were ready and when the first performer of the night took to the flat deck trailer stage from Rona Portage, the gusty wind that had persisted for most of the day started to die down.
Cochrane Light Up seeks volunteers for 40th anniversary
Each year, upwards of 20,000 people gather in Historic Downtown Cochrane to kick off the Christmas season at the annual Cochrane Light Up.
But In order to make the event so special, organizers need some extra help from the community.
Chris Heier, chair of the Cochrane Light Up organizing committee says they're looking for volunteers.
Experience Indian culture through dance and fashion at Weyburn’s Culture-Palooza
Weyburn's annual Culture-Palooza is kicking off tomorrow as part of the month-long Culture Days celebration. From 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. the Indian community in Weyburn will be highlighted with traditional Indian dance performances.
Asha Shivarajan says Indian culture is very rich and diverse as it represents 28 states and eight union territories within the country. The dance styles that will be performed have been gleaned from various regions' cultures.

September is World Alzheimer's Month!
World Alzheimer's Month is a campaign that aims to raise awareness and challenge the stigma that persists around dementia.
Sierra Dueck is the Southeastman Regional Coordinator at the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba.
She says dementia affects so many families right here in our province.
“Currently about just under 20,000 Manitobans live with dementia. And that number is expected to increase quite rapidly, almost doubling by 2050, so it affects a lot of people.”

A Steinbach family received a strange letter one year ago and today they have reunited with family they didn't even know they had.
Katharine Reimer recently found out she had a brother and a niece. Reimer's brother, David Unruh (from David and Chris Unruh of Century 21 Realty), received a mysterious letter a year ago that read, "I believe your father is my father's father."
Portage la Prairie Soup Kitchen grand opening on the way
A local Soup Kitchen is hoping to let the community know that they're available for those in need.
The grand opening of the new Portage la Prairie Soup Kitchen is taking place on September 27, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Highway Pentecostal Church.
Coordinator Shelley Burton says they initially opened the soup kitchen in May of this year but are holding this grand opening to raise awareness of its existence.
