Yamnuska Wolfdog Sanctuary has announced the sad news that Kuna, the very first wolfdog and inspiration behind the Sanctuary has passed away. 

“Kuna was actually the reason behind why this place is here,” says Alyx Harris, the operations manager of the Sanctuary. 

The fifteen-and-a-half-year-old wolfdog passed away peacefully on September 17th.

“It was really hard to say goodbye to such a big member and a big part of what we do.”

It's our birthday!

Staff with 104.5 More Country and StrathmoreNow celebrated the station's sixth anniversary on the airwaves on Friday.

For the last six years, we have been dedicated to providing the residents of Strathmore, Chestermere, Wheatland County, and parts of Rocky View County with up-to-date news regarding sports, weather, community events, and some great country hits.

Airdrie has a vibrant local music scene, and one of its standout talents is Edwardson, an alternative pop artist with deep roots in the community.

Recently, Edwardson shared his journey with Discover Airdrie, reflecting on how his hometown shaped his music.

“I was born and raised here,” he said. “I sort of got my musical start here as well.”

Things are getting busier with each weekend in the Weyburn area, with a few events of note happening this weekend.

The Weyburn Branch of the Canadian Mental Health Association will benefit from a special fundraising event on Saturday.

This big boy is love personified. Chuckie and his siblings have been with KAWS since they were 1 week old with their mother. He is gentle, loving, playful and every great thing you want in a companion. Since he is fostered in a house so he has been trained to stay off counters and doesn't scratch furniture if he has a scratching post handy. He is quite a big boy and will be a large cat. Good with other cats, dogs and children.

Name That Tune was an easy win for Kadynce! 

She was the first to text in with the correct song scoring her a $50.00 Humboldt Sobeys gift card and she chose to stay safe and not risk it, which was a smart move as she didn't know the second song very well.

It’s been seven years since the Weyburn Agricultural Society announced its first Flavours of Fall and this year, they are bringing it back and planning for it to be as big and fun as ever.  

The Great Pumpkin decrees it every year at this time. 

Saturday, September 28, it’s time to head out to the Pilger Pumpkin Festival in the warm and inviting village of Pilger. 

The big pumpkin weigh in starts at 2 pm at the Pilger Community Hall, so load up the trailers and flatbeds with your best pumpkin produce.  

That 2 pm deadline also applies to all judged goods like pumpkin carvings and those delicious pumpkin pies.
