Arts facility fundraiser featuring Tribute to Adele this Saturday
Arts organizations are kicking off their fundraising campaign for a new performing arts centre with a gala presentation this Saturday night, September 28.
Arts Humboldt and OnStage Dance Festival welcome Ashley Borody with here Ultimate Tribute to Adele. The evening performance will open with a performance by Humboldt’s own Ray Whitton.

At the Sept. 21 event in Ghost Country, 27 Starlight Children's Foundation families participated in off-road adventures: getting muddy and learning about what is in the water, throwing plastic axes, taking part in a scavenger hunt, racing RC cars, and many other activities.
Winkler to present new strategic plan to public October 28th
In the latest edition of In the Mayor's Chair, Winkler Mayor Henry Siemens announced the City will be presenting a new strategic plan to residents during a public consultation event October 28th.
"We've been working with 13 Ways Consulting for the last number of months to develop a new strategic plan for how Winkler will grow and what we want to focus on," explained the Mayor. "We're excited to be able to present that to the community. We've selected October 28th as the day that we're going to bring it to the community."
Jacqui Broesky qualifies for World’s Powerlifting Championships in South Africa
Another southeast Manitoban athlete makes the community proud as she heads off to compete in the World’s Championships.
Steinbach resident and local relator, Jacqui Broesky says that powerlifting is not the same as what you see in the Olympics and shares the difference.
“Powerlifting is based on three lifts we do back squat, bench press, and deadlift, you get 3 attempts at each of those 3 lifts, and then at the end you get a total of however much weight you lifted.”
