Kenzie Demach has been safely located. The RCMP thanks the public and the media for their assistance.

A 14-year-old girl from Long Plain First Nation is reported missing since September 30, 2024, at about 11:25 a.m.

Kenzie Demach is believed to be in Portage la Prairie. Police and family are concerned for her well-being. 

She's described as 5’6” tall, 100 pounds, with black, shoulder-length hair and brown eyes.

Rotary’s veggie sale continues tradition of supporting Portage’s local projects

One of the Rotary Club of Portage la Prairie's largest fundraising efforts is underway.

The annual Rotary Veggie Sale starts on October 2, and continues through October 5. Press Relations Director Preston Meier says it's been a longstanding tradition for the club, as this is the 46th veggie sale the club has put on, not missing a year in the process.

MFNPS ask for public's help to find missing 13-year-old Long Plain Boy

Manitoba First Nations Police Service (MFNPS) is seeking the public's help locating  13-year-old Cameron Joshua Bone from Long Plain First Nation.

His family reported him missing on September 28th, stating that they hadn't seen him in about two weeks. Although Bone has been in contact with his girlfriend via Snapchat, he has not disclosed his whereabouts. Family members are worried about his safety and have been informed that he may be in Portage la Prairie, Winnipeg, Brandon, or Thompson.

Westpark School's music program hits all the right notes

Westpark School is hitting all the right notes when it comes to its music program, attracting students eager to express themselves through music and worship. Joshua Bater, the school's Grade 5 to 12 music teacher, leads the program with passion and dedication.

"The worship band is a great opportunity for students in Grades 9 to 12. They audition for a chance to join where they can play instruments like drums, guitar, and keys, or sing. We rehearse every other day and perform at monthly chapels, plus we host two concerts a year."

Canada condemns Iran's strikes on Israel, reiterates calls for ceasefire

As war spread in the Middle East on Tuesday, Foreign Affairs Minister Mélanie Joly "unequivocally" condemned Iran's move to fire dozens of missiles into Israel and called for no further escalation in the war from all sides.

Joly also begged Canadians in Lebanon to leave immediately as Israel began what it is calling a limited ground operation against Hezbollah targets in the southern part of that country.

Reeve’s grim warning: Fix intersection now or risk 'Standing on Blood' ▶️

"I don't want to stand on the blood of our residents and say I'm sorry."

St. François Xavier Reeve Delmer Nott is speaking about the intersection at the Trans-Canada Highway and Highway 26. He notes it's treacherous.

Nott explains that during Grantown's 200th anniversary, among the hundreds who celebrated with the community, visitors expressed concerns over something the residents are all too familiar with. They asked how nobody had been killed yet among those travelling from Portage to the town.

2024 Canadian Wheat Crop Progress and Harvest Assessment Update

Cereals Canada recently released their 2024 Canadian Wheat Crop Progress and Harvest Assessment Update.

Harvest operations are still underway in many areas of the Prairies.

Stats Canada surveyed farmers in June with estimates showing Canadian farmers planted over 8.2 million hectares of non durum wheat this year, a 3% decrease from last year, while durum acreage showed a 5 per cent increase to nearly 2.6 million acres.

Non-durum wheat is grown across the country in Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta, and in southern Ontario, Quebec and the Atlantic provinces.

Portage Terriers Quebec connections enjoying life in Portage la Prairie

Tristan Gravenor and Emrick Paradis travelled from Quebec to Manitoba in September to test their chops against junior hockey talent in the province. The two players have found a place on the roster in Portage, each getting into action in the early going of the regular season.

Gravenor hails from Montréal and says the adjustment has gone pretty well.
