UPDATE: Collision closes eastbound lanes on Trans-Canada near Brandon
UPDATE: The stretch of highway was reopened around 1:40 p.m.
A motor vehicle collision has shut down the eastbound lanes of Highway 1 about three kilometres east of Highway 468.
The right lane is currently closed, and traffic is down to one lane.
The incident was first reported just after 8 a.m. this morning.
Drivers should expect delays in the area and use caution while crews respond.

RCMP arrest driver for drug possession following traffic violation
On the evening of July 17, 2025, RCMP Central Traffic Services were patrolling Highway 17 in the Rural Municipality of Fisher when they noticed a vehicle travelling 139 km/h in a 100 km/h zone.
The excessive speed prompted a traffic stop at approximately 9:45 p.m.
During the stop, officers arrested the 23-year-old driver from Bowmanville, Ontario, after a search of the vehicle uncovered approximately 160 grams of cocaine and crack cocaine.
Drug paraphernalia was also found hidden inside a speaker in the car.
Scattered showers bring relief to dry spots across Southern Manitoba: Rainfall amounts
Rainfall amounts varied across southern Manitoba from yesterday through 6 a.m. this morning, according to the Manitoba Ag Weather Network.

Senft to step down as CEO of Seeds Canada
The founding CEO of the five-year-old organization will stay on until January 2026
Seeds Canada is looking for a new chief executive officer after Barry Senft announced he is stepping down from the role he’s held for about four years.
Senft will continue to serve as CEO until the end of January 2026.
“I think after five years, it’s time for new leadership,” he said during the 2025 Seeds Canada conference in Quebec City.
He said someone with more seeds experience would make sense now that the organization is up and running.

Province investing over $2M in Spruce Woods Park upgrades

Sun safety tips from Central Plains Cancer Services
Just because you can’t see the sun doesn’t mean it’s not there.
“Sun safety still matters on cloudy days,” explains Karen Faurschou, an educator with Central Plains Cancer Services. “Up to 80% of UV rays can penetrate clouds, so even when it feels cool or overcast you can still get sunburned.”
Manitoba has so far had a mostly hot, sunny summer season. People of all ages are enjoying the outdoors, but the fun of beach days, bike rides and picnics should not distract from the importance of UV protection.
