Sea Bears sign G League 3-and-D guard Scottie Lindsey
The Winnipeg Sea Bears of the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) announced Saturday the signing of 6-6 American guard Scottie Lindsey. The product of Hillside, Ill. ranked top-five in the CEBL in scoring as a member of the Saskatchewan Rattlers in 2022, and most recently spent time with the NBA G League’s Windy City Bulls.

Rest assured: Manitoba Blue Cross builds beds for local kids
Fifty kids in Manitoba will be getting a better sleep at night thanks to a special event at Blue Cross Park this week.
To commemorate its 50th anniversary, Manitoba Blue Cross has collaborated with the non-profit organization Sleep in Heavenly Peace to construct 50 beds for children in need throughout the Winnipeg area. This initiative addresses the pressing issue of children lacking proper sleeping arrangements.
Manitoba boy Ben Onyshko signs with Goldeyes
The Winnipeg Goldeyes announced Friday that the club has signed left-handed pitcher and Winnipeg native Ben Onyshko.
The 27-year-old was chosen by the Seattle Mariners in the 24th round of the 2018 Major League Baseball June Amateur Draft out of Stetson University (DeLand, Florida).
Onyshko reached the Class-AAA level in the Mariners’ chain with the Tacoma Rainiers of Triple-A West in 2021. He spent the last two-plus seasons with the Class-AA Texas League’s Arkansas Travelers.
Cougars avoid sweep with win over Goldeyes
The Kane County Cougars (17-14) defeated the Winnipeg Goldeyes 5-2 at Northwestern Medicine Field Wednesday afternoon, snapping Winnipeg’s win streak at four games.
Kane County opened the scoring in the bottom of the third inning on second baseman Jared Cushing’s solo home run down the left field line.
The Cougars doubled their lead in the fifth when shortstop Harrison Smith led off the inning with a home run just inside the left field foul pole that made the score 2-0.
Second round of tornado warnings in Westman
More tornado warnings were issued this evening for parts of western Manitoba that had already had at least one warning earlier in the day.
A handful of tornadoes touched down in the afternoon and early evening near Rivers, Rapid City, and Swan Lake, as well as other areas. No injuries had been reported as of yet.
Goldeyes open series with win over Cougars
