Detours, lane reductions in place to connect new sanitary sewer main
Construction to connect a new sanitary sewer main for the future Horse Creek Sports Park and high school site is underway and will impact parts of the Heritage Hills neighbourhood and traffic along Horse Creek Road for the next couple of weeks.
The Town of Cochrane says the project will require the closure of the intersection at Heritage Boulevard and Horse Creek Road, along with a section of Heritage Boulevard itself. The closure is expected to last about two weeks.
Cozy blanket donation brings comfort to crisis victims
Cochrane RCMP and the Southern Alberta Regional Victim Serving Society (SARVSS) are expressing their gratitude after receiving a heartwarming donation aimed at supporting those impacted by trauma.
Local resident Peggy Doyle recently dropped off a generous supply of cozy blankets at the Cochrane detachment. The blankets will be distributed by SARVSS to individuals facing crisis situations, offering a small but meaningful source of comfort during difficult times.
Missing Cochrane woman and child found safe
Cochrane RCMP say a woman and her young daughter who were reported missing earlier this week have been safely located.
The pair were found with help from law enforcement partners in British Columbia. Police say they’re thankful to everyone who shared information and assisted with the investigation.
RCMP first announced the search on Monday, after the two were last seen leaving Cochrane on July 19. Investigators had reason to believe they may have travelled to B.C.
AgraCity restarts packaging and product fulfillment operations

The annual Perseid meteor shower is lighting up the skies over Cochrane and local stargazers are in for a treat.
The event runs from now until August 24, with peak activity expected between August 12 and 13. During those nights, viewers could see up to 100 meteors an hour.
“It's a late-night event for sure,” says local skygazer Tim Giese. “You’re not going to catch much at 7 or 8 p.m. You’ll want to head out after 10:30 or 11, and it gets better the later you stay out, right into the early morning.”
