Memorable summer of championship ball for Maeve Maguire
Being selected to play in one national championship this summer would be thrilling for most ball players.
So, you could imagine the joy experienced by talented Cochrane ball player Maeve Maguire when she travelled to Quebec City to compete in one national championship, then less than 24 hours later headed to Saskatoon to begin practicing with Team Alberta for another.
Add to that picture another major Western Canada championship in early August.

'She was screaming': Girl, 14, charged with attempted murder after teen set on fire
A Saskatoon high school student remembers the pungent smell of burned hair going up her nose, and something like the strong scent from a Sharpie marker, moments after she watched a schoolmate being set on fire.
She had just stepped out of her Grade 9 social studies class for lunch on Thursday, she says, when she saw two other girls in a hallway. A girl in a crop top poured liquid from a black canister onto the head of the girl standing next to her.

Additional photos of Elijah Blake Strawberry and his most prominent tattoos have been released by the Alberta RCMP to assist in the manhunt for the murder suspect.

It has been a month since the search for Strawberry began. He is a suspect in the Aug. 6 shooting death of Colin John Hough, 45, of Airdrie. On Aug. 13, 35-year-old Arthur Wayne Penner was charged with first-degree murder and attempted murder of a Fortis employee.
Canadian resident arrested in Quebec over alleged New York terror plot
When a father and son were arrested this summer in Ontario over an alleged terrorist plot, U.S. authorities say the news spooked a 20-year-old Pakistani national and Canadian resident named Muhammad Shahzeb Khan.
They say Khan used encrypted messaging to warn that because of the arrests "here in Toronto," there was a need to "lay low" on his own alleged plans: killing as many Jewish people as possible in New York around the Oct. 7 anniversary of Hamas' attack on Israel.
