Flooding not ruled out in Morden 

Morden's Director of Operations Tim Reimer isn't ruling out flood conditions, due to the Colorado low expected to bring more precipitation to the area over the next couple of days. 

He gave a brief recap of what has happened since the last Spring snowstorm earlier in April mixed with warmer temperatures last week, melting the snow in a short period of time. 

Past, present and future presented at 6th Dig Deep CFDC Gala 

Back after several years of cancelled in person events, The Canadian Fossil Discovery Centre (CFDC) 6th "Dig Deep Gala" brought the community out for a fun evening learning about the past and present activities and future plans for the museum. 

CFDC Executive Director Adolfo Cuetara shared a special opening for the night. 

World-renowned Manitoba artist, Helen Granger-Young, leaves a piece of her legacy in Manitou

Last week, Manitoba artist, Helen Granger-Young, passed away at the age of 100. She is best known throughout the province for her bronze sculpture, unveiled in 2010, of the "Famous Five" located on the Manitoba Legislative grounds. She also has art displayed in the White House, Vatican, Kremlin, and Rideau Hall. 

Co-Chair of the Nellie McClung Heritage Site, Barbara Biggar, commented on the death of the artist. 

"Music will take you places" - Konektis goes to Carnegie Hall 

Manitou's Lexi Hacault, her brother Jackson and cousin Sarah Sharpe just came back from a rare opportunity with their Westman choir Konektis, made up of singers from 9 different Manitoba communities.

Lexi shared the exciting experience.

"So, we were one of six choirs that were invited to sing at Carnegie Hall in a mass Canadian choir. So, all the choirs joined together to sing. We got to sing 6 pieces that were all written by Canadian composers. So, it was very national and patriotic."

A tale of two bridges - Morden bridge update

The first steps to rebuilding two bridges in Morden are nearing completion. Parkhill Drive Bridge work has been completed, and the Alvey Street Bridge work should have been completed on Tuesday, according to Deputy City Manager of Operations Santokh Randawa. Precast concrete panels and guarders are on order, and are scheduled to arrive in a month. The contractor will then resume working to complete the two bridges destroyed by flooding a year ago. 

Randawa is hoping the work will take two months to complete, and says the goal is for them to be functional by mid-June to July. 

Sexual assault victims encouraged to get the help they need, in spite of gaps in the system

Multiple resignations at the Sexual Assault Nurse Examination (SANE) Unit at Health Sciences Centre (HSC) in Winnipeg reduced the trained nursing casual staff from thirteen to six in recent weeks. In late March, a spokesperson at the Winnipeg Health Sciences Centre stated doctors and nurse practitioners are pitching in to fill the gap while new permanent nurses are being trained. Those individuals should be in place by June,
