Broncos Snap Losing Streak, End 2024 with Long Awaited Victory in Estevan

It’s been 1140 days since the Broncos last won in the confines of Affinity Place in Estevan. Well, you can leave all that in the past, as well as a four-game losing streak in 2024.

The Broncos put forth their best 60-minite effort in recent memory on the third game in a three day stretch to defeat the Bruins 5-2 on Saturday night.

Broncos split weekend road trip against Melville and Melfort

A two game road series for the Broncos ended in a split decision this past weekend.

The Humboldt Broncos travelled to Melville to take on the Millionaires on Friday, before wrapping up their season series with the Mustangs in Melfort on Saturday.

Cashing in at The Bank

The Melville Millionaires welcomed the Broncos, who were on a four-game wining streak at the time, into ‘The Bank’ on Friday night, where the green and gold flexed their January muscles en route to a 6-3 victory.

Broncos fall to La Ronge; Teddy Bear Toss to wrap up 2022

There’s no debating the Broncos were the better team on Wednesday night, but thanks to a hot goaltender and two costly turnovers, it wasn’t the way the cookie crumbled on the scoreboard.

For the fifth and final time this season, the Humboldt Broncos and La Ronge Ice Wolves took to the ice, with Humboldt winning three of the previous four. The Broncos controlled most of the game, outshooting the Wolves 33-21. However, La Ronge capitalized on their few chances while riding the hot hand of goalie, Dawson Smith enroute to a 3-1 victory.

Broncos bounce back at the Bank with a 4-1 win over Melville

The Humboldt Broncos cashed in on two points in their lone game of the weekend on Friday night.

Taking on the Melville Millionaires for the second time this season, the Broncos, backed by goalie Ben Motew, came away with a 4-1 victory.

Cage Newans opened the scoring with his 11th goal of the season, off a beautiful centering pass from Carsten Kayter for the 16-year-olds 20th point this year to put him among the league leaders in points by a defenseman.

The Humboldt Broncos kept their season hopes alive in a thrilling 3-2 overtime victory over the Flin Flon Bombers on Saturday night in Game 4.

In fitting fashion, it was the Captain, Kade Olsen who proved to be the hero, scoring the game-winner, and forcing Game 5. The victory cuts the Bombers' semi-final series lead to 3-1.

The Broncos fell into a daunting 3-0 deficit in the series following another one-goal loss in Game 3 on Friday. For the Broncos to stave off elimination, they now had to win four straight games against a talented and confident Bombers team.

Broncos fall 2-0 to Bombers in semi-finals

The Humboldt Broncos dropped their opening pair of games in the SJHL semi-finals against the Flin Flon Bombers. 

The Broncos advanced to the second round of the SJHL playoffs after defeating the La Ronge Ice Wolves in 6 games. Meanwhile, the Bombers had similar success, taking care of the Battlefords North Stars in 6 games.

In game one, the Bombers special teams were the dictating factor in their ability to pull away with the victory.

It's semi-finals time for the SJHL with the Broncos facing the Flin Flon Bombers, starting with a pair  of home games on Friday,  April 1 and Saturday, April 2.
