Broncos' season concludes after game five loss to Warriors
The Swift Current Broncos season came to an end on Friday night with a 4-2 loss to the Moose Jaw Warriors in game five of their second-round WHL Playoff series, dropping the series 4-1.
The Broncos scored first in each and every game in the series, and on Friday, Josh Filmon’s team-leading seventh playoff goal got the Broncos ahead. However, a natural hat-trick from Jagger Firkus gave Moose Jaw a 3-1 lead heading into the third period.
Broncos pushed to brink of elimination after loss to Warriors
The Swift Current Broncos have been pushed to the brink of elimination after a 5-2 loss to Moose Jaw in Game 4 of their second-round series on Wednesday night in Swift Current.
Conor Geekie got the Broncos on the board for his first goal of the series 8:17 into the first period, but it was responded by Ethan Hughes of the Warriors to make it 1-1 after one period.
Caleb Wyrostok gave the Broncos a 2-1 lead a couple minute into the second, but that was all the scoring the Broncos could get as Jagger Firkus tied the game just over 12 minutes into the second period.
Broncos fall to Warriors in tight game three battle
The Swift Current Broncos had an 11-game home winning streak snapped on Tuesday night at the InnovationPlex.
The Broncos fell 5-3 to the Moose Jaw Warriors in game three of their second-round series. It was the Broncos first home loss since February 10.
Caswell, Mistelbacher listed in Central Scouting final rankings
The NHL’s Central Scouting service has come out with its final rankings ahead of the 2024 NHL Draft.
Clarke Caswell and Luke Mistelbacher are both on the radar to have their names called in June in Las Vegas. Caswell is ranked 77th and Mistelbacher is ranked 119th.

The Swift Current Broncos dropped a 7-2 decision to the Moose Jaw Warriors on Saturday night, creating a 1-1 series in their second round WHL Playoff matchup.
Just one night after the Broncos grabbed a 7-2 win of their own, the script was flipped.
Josh Filmon opened the scoring for Swift Current, but a shorthanded Brayden Yager goal for the Warriors made it 1-1 after one period.

The Swift Current Broncos earned a big 7-2 win on the road on Friday night in Game One of their second round series against the Moose Jaw Warriors.
With a large contingent of Broncos fans making their presence known, the Broncos used the energy to take a 4-0 lead by the time 33 minutes had elapsed in the hockey game thanks to a pair of goals each by Brady Birnie and Josh Filmon. The first of which came within 38 seconds apart in the first period, while the next two came basically four-and-a-half minutes apart in the second period.
Geekie's overtime winner sends Broncos to second round
The Swift Current Broncos have punched their ticket to the second round of the 2024 WHL Playoffs after a 5-4 double-overtime win over the Lethbridge Hurricanes, ending the series in four straight games, thanks to Conor Geekie’s overtime heroics.
It was a big comeback for the Broncos who fell behind 3-0 in the first period, and were down 4-1 early in the second period, but three unanswered goals, two of which were in the second, and one midway through the third led the way for the Broncos. Interim Head Coach Taras McEwen said he was happy with how his team stuck with the process.
Broncos Leslie Named Central Division Executive of the Year
The Western Hockey League announced on Wednesday, that Broncos General Manager Chad Leslie has been named as the Central Division’s Executive of the Year, and a nominee for the WHL’s Lloyd Saunders Memorial Trophy.
Mistelbacher magic hat trick gives Broncos 3-0 series lead
The Swift Current Broncos now have a 3-0 stranglehold in their series against the Lethbridge Hurricanes after a 5-3 win on Tuesday night in Lethbridge.
Luke Mistelbacher led the way for the Broncos with his first career hat-trick, while Conor Geekie, and Josh Filmon added markers in the game. Broncos Interim Head Coach Taras McEwen said it was great to see that performance from Mistelbacher.
“The second half, he’s been a real important player,” he said. “Any time he finds some time and space to shoot, he can rip the puck. So, happy to see him get on the board.”
Broncos storm back in third to take 2-0 lead on Hurricanes
The Swift Current Broncos have taken a 2-0 series lead with a 4-3 win over the Lethbridge Hurricanes on Saturday Night at the InnovationPlex.
It was a back-and-forth game but the Hurricanes held a 2-1 lead through two periods. Leo Braillard scored early in the first to give the Hurricanes the lead, but Josh Filmon responded for Swift Current early in the second on the powerplay to tie the game. However, it only lasted a bit more than two minutes before Sean Tschigerl restored the Lethbridge lead.
