Humboldt RCMP on the lookout for fragrance shoplifter
Humboldt RCMP seeks the public's help in identifying a shoplifter who struck a business in Humboldt.
On the evening of April 30, 2024, a local business situated on the 1900 block of 8 Avenue in Humboldt was struck by a shoplifter who stole nearly $400 worth of high-end men’s cologne. Police are requesting the public's assistance in identifying the person of interest pictured.

Routine stop leads to arrest and multiple charges
A proactive traffic stop of a vehicle with a muddy license plate in Kinistino led to the apprehension of a wanted criminal.
At approximately 10:30 a.m., an officer from Combined Traffic Services Saskatchewan was conducting patrols in Kinistino, SK. They observed a vehicle with a license plate that was unreadable as it was covered in mud. They conducted a traffic stop.
Two upcoming workshop events at the Gallery
Get set for more creative fun at the Humboldt and District Gallery this week with a pair of opportunities to learn, participate and have fun.
First of all on Thursday night, May 9 from 6:30 – 9:00 pm. Kayla Hanson returns for a workshop on watercolour painting. It’s a great introduction to the colour and components of creating art in a “fluid” medium.
The workshop costs $20 per person. All supplies are included, and no experience is necessary.
Second degree murder charges laid in Naicam death
RCMP have charged a man with second degree murder in connection to an assault in Naicam that ended in the victim's death.
Melfort RCMP officers responded to a report of an assault at a 3rd avenue residence in Naicam at approximately 4:30 pm on May 2nd. EMS pronounced the man dead at the scene.
The victim was identified as 81-year-old Dennis Swanson from Naicam.
Local badminton players off to provincials
Congratulations go out to Englefeld’s Lorenz Cabingan (Boys Singles) and LeRoy’s Geri Lon Valdesimo (Girls Singles) who placed first and second respectively in their categories at the SHSAA Regional Badminton Championships held Saturday in Foam Lake.
Both players have advanced to next Saturday’s SHSAA Provincial Badminton Championships in Nipawin. We wish them the best of luck!
Kraig Nienhuis entertaining at Broncos Memorial Golf Tournament
Plans are underway for this summer’s 7th Annual Humboldt Broncos Memorial Golf Tournament presented by BHP hosted by Jared Bednar and Brian Munz.
A big part of the entertainment lineup has just been announced with former NHLer Kraig Nienhuis providing the post golf entertainment on Saturday, August 10th at the Golf Club’s Event Centre. Nienhuis has entertained at charity events around the world, NHL team gatherings, NHL All Star Games and numerous celebrity private parties.
2024 BHP Scholarship Program now accepting applications
For 2024, The BHP Scholarship Program expands to support students from 30 schools and 6 First Nations. BHP and Carlton Trail announced on May 2 that applications are now being accepted for the 2024 edition. Carlton Trail College administers the program on BHP’s behalf.
HCAA Junior District badminton champions crowned
Congratulations go out to all the participants and the winners in this year's HCAA Junior District Badminton Chmapionships. The tournament was held on May 2 at Wakaw School.
