Punnichy RCMP seek help locating missing person

Punnichy Detachment is seeking the public's assistance in locating Jacqueline Hunter who was reported missing from George Gordon First Nation.

Jacqueline Hunter was last seen on 11-18-2023 03:00 PM. November 18, 2023 at 3:00 pm. She is described as 5'3", 180 lbs., female. No clothing description was provided.

Broncos fall in weekend matchups with Flin Flon

The Humboldt Bronco fell in its pair of games against the Flin Flon Bombers this weekend on the road.

On Friday night, Humboldt started with their trademark game opener courtesy of an unassisted effort by Marik Mamic. After that it was all Flin Flon with a flurry of five unanswered goals to take the Friday night affair 5-1.

In Saturday's game, it was a 5-2 result in favour of the Bombers.  Maddox Amaral and Chase Cooke were the goal scorers in the second and third periods.

Provincial government introduces Carbon Tax Fairness for Families Act

Making good on his promise to withhold carbon tax payments from SaskEnergy to the Federal Government, Premier Scott Moe and his Sask Party Government introduced The SaskEnergy (Carbon Tax Fairness for Families) Amendment Act. The Act, introduced on November 16, is designed to “protect Saskatchewan families from the unfair and unaffordable federal carbon tax,” says a Government of Saskatchewan release.  

Humboldt Curling Club set to host Men's and Ladies bonspiels

The Humboldt Curling Club is hosting the Hergott Farm Equipment Men’s Bonspiel and the Women’s Bonspiel which will take place on November 24 and 25. 

The men's bonspiel has a guaranteed 1st-place prize of $500. 

Prices to enter are $200 a team, and junior teams can enter for $100. 

The lady's bonspiel costs $200 a team, and junior teams can enter for $100 a team. 

Both bonspiels include appetizers and cash prizes.

RCMP WEST Team searching for manslaughter suspect

Saskatchewan RCMP’s Warrant Enforcement and Suppression Team along with RCMP Major Crimes seeks the public’s help in locating Nolan Bird. Bird is wanted for manslaughter in the death of 61-year-old David Lapointe. Lapointe was found deceased at a residence on the 1600 block of 102nd Street in North Battleford on March 13, 2022.  

Nolan Bird is described as approximately 5’7” and 170 lbs. He has black hair and brown eyes, as well as tattoos on his neck and under one eye. Investigators believe Nolan Bird is in Saskatoon. 

New rapid access counselling services for youth coming to Humboldt

The Sask Party government announced that free, rapid access counselling service will now be available to children, youth and their caregivers in Humboldt. The province’s Rapid Access Counselling Program is part of Family Service Saskatchewan, backed by $1.7 million in new annual funding. The counselling will be delivered by Partners Family Services in Humboldt. The government release states that young people can access support for challenges ranging from stress and depression to family conflict, addictions and domestic violence.  

Health Authority responds to overcrowding concerns

The Saskatchewan Health Authority has responded to letters of concern about overcrowding in a Saskatoon hospital with a release concerning its Saskatoon Capacity Pressure Action Plan (SCPAP). The release sent out on November 14 outlines several concrete actions to alleviate and address the immediate pressures facing hospital capacity in Saskatoon, while introducing long-term measures to meet the current and future needs of Saskatchewan residents accessing health care services in Saskatoon.
