The Lake Lenore Fish Smoker is back this Saturday, offering a smoking good time for all! This beloved annual event, a tradition in the Lake Lenore community, draws large crowds and pulls in an abundance of fresh whitefish from the lake. All the action will take place at the Community Hall, the hub of the festivities.

From the arts to music, food, and outdoor recreation, the area has proven to be a destination where creativity, nature, and community spirit intersect. 

The Humboldt and District SPCA has had a remarkable year, marked by growth, community support, and exciting plans for the future. Board member Joanne Koski shared her optimism as the shelter enters the holiday season, noting several milestones that reflect the generosity and commitment of the community. 

Sagehill Community Futures has had a dynamic year of growth and community engagement, demonstrating a strong commitment to local business development, training, and inclusivity. Under the leadership of Susan Wehage, the organization has made significant strides in supporting small businesses, enhancing workforce diversity, and fostering community development across Saskatchewan. 

The final month for 2024 saw some projects come to an end and it also marked a time for celebration. Here's a look back at some of the top stories for December 2024.

Humboldt and District Community Services (HDCS) has had an impactful year in 2024, continuing its mission to ensure that all individuals have meaningful connections to their community. With the support of 26 dedicated staff members and 8 board members, the organization delivered 10 vital programs, making a tangible difference in the lives of many residents across Humboldt. 

Juanine Korte, Director of HDCS, highlighted the organization's growth and commitment to providing inclusive support to the community.  

Carlton Trail College is celebrating a monumental milestone this year as it marks its 50th anniversary. The event has been a chance to reflect on the college’s significant growth and contributions to the region, with President and CEO Amy Yeager noting the importance of commemorating this landmark occasion. 

"Our 50th anniversary was a landmark opportunity for us to highlight the many things that we've done over the last 50 years," Yeager said. "It was a time to reflect on the past but also look forward to the future." 

St. Peter's College has had a year filled with memorable events aimed at enhancing the student experience, supporting prospective learners, and fostering a strong sense of community. According to Jordan Keller, Student Services Officer, the year began with a series of welcoming events for both new and prospective students.
