Bronco news: Holtvogt wins Sask. Player of the Week & send Kerbes to Dryden

The Humboldt Broncos have announced they have traded defenceman Karson Kerbes to the Dryden Ice Dogs of the Superior International Junior Hockey League (SIJHL) in exchange for a player development fee.  

In his first season with the Broncos, Kerbes played in three games and registered no points.

SaskPower warns about an Interac E-transfer scam

SaskPower is alerting the public of an Interac e-transfer scam through a fraudulent email. 

The email claims to be from the SaskPower Carbon Council and at first glance appears to be legitimate. The email notifies the customer of a large deposit being e-transferred to them from the Government of Saskatchewan. 

SaskPower does not send e-transfers and reminds residents to check the address of where the email was sent from.  

Road Closure: Tues. Oct.22 Main Street between 10th and 11th Avenue

A northern section of Main Street in Humboldt will be closed for repairs tomorrow.  

On Tuesday, October 22, the area of Main Street between 10th and 11th Avenue will be closed off.  

This closure is needed to allow work crews to replace a sewer service. 

The City of Humboldt apologizes for the inconvenience.  

Mohawks outmuscle Crusaders for playoff win

In a nail-biting playoff matchup, the Humboldt Mohawks battled the John Paul II Crusaders of North Battleford, ultimately securing a 42-29 victory that showcased both teams' resilience and determination. 

The Crusaders were first on the scoreboard as quarterback Nate Fransoo connected with wide receiver Ryder Kozlowski, at 5:34 left in the first quarter, marking the first score of the game.  

*Update* Wakaw RCMP attended fatal vehicle/pedestrian collision

RCMP have confirmed a 41-year-old man from Domremy was killed in the collision. His family has been notified. 

The driver of the involved vehicle remained at the scene. No other injuries were reported. 

Wakaw RCMP are continuing the investigation alongside a RCMP Collision Analyst.

Wakaw RCMP were called out to the scene of a motor vehicle collision last night at approximately 6:00 pm, involving a pedestrian on Highway #2, 10 km south of Wakaw. 

Emergency crews respond the semi rollover near Watson

Melfort RCMP reported that responders attended a single semi rollover on Highway 6 north of Watson. The incident occurred on October 17 at approximately 10:20 am.

The driver was the lone occupant of the vehicle. He was transported to hospital with injuries reported to be non-life threatening. 

The semi was hauling a chemical reported to be anhydrous ammonia, but the tanker did not breach, and no chemical was spilled or released. The public was not in danger at any point in time due to the incident. The road is open to regular traffic.

Break in and theft in RM of Invergordon has RCMP looking for suspects

RCMP is seeking help in locating a pair of suspects responsible for a break and enter in the RM of Invergordon north of Humboldt.  

Melfort RCMP are investigating an attempted break and enter that occurred to a rural property in the RM of Invergordon on October 10, 2024 at about 7:00 am.  

Virtual physician to enhance Wadena emergency room services

Residents in Wadena and area will benefit from enhanced access to emergency room (ER) services with the launch of the virtual physician program at the Wadena Hospital. 

A release from the Saskatchewan Health Authority states this virtual strategy is a temporary measure to address the immediate medical needs of patients presenting to the ER in Wadena when local physicians are not available to provide on-site coverage.
