Rib Masters Tom and Gina Ripley and family of Lake Lenore got help from Glen Gerwing and a host of Knights to put on the supper and entertainment. The evening’s proceedings were led by Dennis Gerwing, who said the second effort was looking even more successful than the first.

Shake the Shamrock with the SPCA

St. Patrick’s Day will soon be upon us and for those inclined to the wearing of the green, there’s a great way to celebrate in Humboldt.

The Humboldt and District SPCA is holding Shake the Shamrock on March 17 as a special St. Patrick’s Day fundraiser. It’s an evening of tasting, testing, and tantalizing treats provided by local chefs and the province’s brewers and distillers. Look forward to a night of entertainment, provided by the SPCA and its volunteers, with a whole heap of help from its friends.

Leslie Wilkinson Volunteer Appreciation Award To Carrie Dutchak

(Written by Ray Whitton)

Good things become great things not by accident, but only because exceptional people are willing to donate their time, talent, heart, and soul to the cause, and this, is who Leslie Wilkinson was in both her personal and professional life.

A staple for many years in the Broncos front-office, Leslie gave tirelessly to those she supported. Her selflessness extended out into her community with her enthusiasm for service, contagious.

Western farmers in a bind due to federal decision on pesticide use

Western provinces are concerned about a federal regulatory agency’s decision that could have a detrimental effect on crops. The Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) has changed approved uses of lambda-cyhalothrin, used in the control of grasshoppers and flea beetles. The regulatory body dictates that the product can’t be used on crops that will be used as livestock feed, and as a result, manufacturers have ceased distributing their product in western Canada.

Legendary Rhythm and Blues Revue lights it up in Wadena

The ensemble took to the stage at the Community Legion Hall in Wadena on Saturday night and spread the joy that is classic, heartfelt R&B.
