New Saskatchewan Health Authority pilot aims to relieve ER stresses
Saskatchewan’s major hospital emergency rooms have been seeing increasing numbers of patients, and concern for providing the best emergency care has always been paramount. Now the Saskatchewan Health Authority has launched a pilot project designed to provide quality care outside of crowded ERs. The Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Treatment and Referral Pilot Project, currently under way in Saskatchewan, will expand the diagnostic and treatment duties for paramedics, in consultation with triage physicians.

Serious Incident Response Team (SIRT) now active in Saskatchewan
To this point in Saskatchewan, serious incidents involving those in custody or being apprehended by police officers have been investigated by other policing bodies. As of January 1, The Police (Serious Incident Response Team) Amendment Act allows a newly formed body to conduct such investigations.
Upgraded Wakaw Diagnostic Imaging Services a huge benefit to the area
This fall, Wakaw and area residents saw upgrades to diagnostic equipment at its health centre representing significant improvements to health care delivery. The Wakaw Primary Health Care Centre received a digital upgrade to diagnostic imaging equipment that will make Medical Imaging services more efficient for staff and patients.

Snow removal continues on city streets
Work resumes today on the city's snow clearing efforts. City Communication manager Penny Lee says that clearing following a pair of holiday season snow events has been a challenging task due to the City's grader breaking down but the City received some help.
Residents are asked to cooperate by keeping vehicles off the streets to allow cleaning to proceed as quickly as possible.
