UPDATE: Humboldt the centre for Queen's Jubillee Platinum Medal Awards

At the regular council meeting on February 27, 2023, Mayor Michael Behiel recognized two individuals from Humboldt that received the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medals.  Congratulations to Debbie Berscheid and Colleen Cornelius on this accomplishment. These two individuals were unable to be recognized at the original event.

Province works toward health care recruitment as part of Action Plan

In a recent conversation for Discover Humboldt’s upcoming Year in Review article, Humboldt-Lanigan MLA Donna Harpauer noted that the government had evolved a response plan for health care in the past year. One of the key components focused on recruiting qualified health care personnel from overseas. The Sask Party government is working to fulfill that goal through a recent trip taken to the Philippines as part of its overall Health Human Resources Action Plan. A targeted recruitment mission was led by Health Minister Paul Merriman, and it's one that has seen results. 

Broncos close out '22 with a pair of wins

The Humboldt Broncos closed out 2022 with a win and a strong showing against the Weyburn Red Wings on Saturday night. 
The Broncos skated away with a 3-0 win.  That followed a Friday afternoon matinee in Kindersley where the Horsemen came away with a 5-2 victory. 
On Friday, Ben Kotylak wasted no time opening the scoring in the first minute. Kindersley responded, but Maddox Amaral and Daylan Weigel gave the Broncos are 3-1 lead after the first. Amaral scored again in the third to seal the win.

New Sask Parks fashions coming this summer

Saskatchewan campers and their visitor friends can make a new fashion statement starting this summer. Saskatchewan Provincial Parks will offer custom-designed Sask Parks hoodies and t-shirts in time for the 2023 camping season in all provincial parks.

"Visitors have been asking about Sask Parks apparel for years, and so we are thrilled to be able to offer this in our parks," Parks, Culture and Sport Minister Laura Ross said. "We know it's going to be exciting to see people wear their Saskatchewan pride on their sleeve."

Weekend update: ‘O come let us adore’ on tomorrow

There will be a performance for the public on Sunday, December 18. It will all take place at St. Augustine Parish starting at 2:00 pm. 

“This concert is going to feature many families from the parish, but it’s open to the entire community to attend,” said coordinator Erika Rybinski.

The theme for this concert is ‘O come let us adore’, says Rybinski.

Admission is through a silver donation, with funds raised going toward the parish. Rybinski says there will be a raffle with prizes to enter and invites the community of Humboldt to attend. 

Carlton Trail College supports five food banks in the region

This December, Carlton Trail College is helping individuals who may rely on a food bank, especially those within its learning region in east-central Saskatchewan.

The Humboldt & District Food Bank, Lanigan & District Food Bank, Wadena Food Bank, Watrous Food Bank and Wynyard Food Bank each received funds to assist with the purchase of fresh food and other necessities. An internal food drive is also being supported by Carlton Trail College’s Board and staff members.
