This year will see Weyburn hosting the 20th edition of the biennial Saskatchewan Oil & Gas Show, and there is a full three days planned for those in attendance.

Everything will start with a golf tournament on June 4th at the Weyburn Golf Club. There will be 164 golfers in the tournament, and registration is now open. With the golf tournament starting at 9:00 a.m., the late afternoon entertainment will see the Outlaw Buckers & Oil Kings Match Bronc Riding event at the Weyburn rodeo grounds.

“Then, the evening ends with our steak and lobster supper at the exhibition hall,” said show manager Monica Osborn. “We’re really looking forward to having a great kick-off day.”

The show itself will start the following morning, with the official chain-cutting ceremony in front of Crescent Point Place at 9:45 a.m., and the show opening its doors to all at 10:00 a.m.

“We’re going to have an awards luncheon where we’re going to honour some great people that have made an impact in the oil and gas industry with the Saskatchewan Hall of Fame and the Southeast Saskatchewan Legends,” added Osborn. The guest speaker for the awards luncheon is Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe.

The evening on June 5th will wrap up with the prime rib supper, followed by the presentation of the Saskatchewan and Southeast Saskatchewan Oil Person of the Year awards. The evening’s entertainment will then be provided by comedian Kelly Taylor.

The final day of the show will start with the Safety Stand Down Breakfast. This is the first time the breakfast will be held and will have Tyler Smith, a survivor of the Humboldt Broncos crash and mental health advocate, as the speaker.

The Industry Luncheon will also be held on the 6th and will have a special guest speaker.

“We’re bringing in the Right Honourable Stephen J. Harper, the 22nd Prime Minister of Canada, and we’re really looking forward to having his commentary,” said Osborn.

Registration for the show is now open. The cost for the show, which provides entrance for both days, is $15. The meals, except for the Safety Stand Down Breakfast, are not included with that price. You can register and purchase your tickets for the meals when registering.
