The Humboldt Broncos along with the other 11 teams in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey (SJHL) began restocking the prospect pool with the 2024 SJHL Draft on Tuesday.
With the 10th overall selection in the 2009 born player portion of the draft, the Broncos selected Prince Albert Defenceman Tatum Fouquette.
Last season with the U15 AA Prince Albert Pirates, Fouquette had 42 points (28G-14A) in 27 games.
In the second round, the Broncos added another player from Prince Albert, forward Jacob Tait.
Like Fouquette, Tait spent last season with the U15 AA Prince Albert Pirates and had 71 points (32G-39A) in 28 games.
The Prince George Cougars selected the Prince Albert Product with a 5th round selection earlier this spring in the WHL Prospects Draft.
With their second selection in the second round, Humboldt picked Saskatoon forward Jake Evans.
He spent last season with the U15 AA Saskatoon Generals and collected 36 points (17G-19A) in 17 games.
In the 2008 portion of the draft, the Broncos used their first-round pick on goaltender Reid Wasserman. With the U18 AA Saskatoon Riverkings, Wasserman was 15-0-1 with a 2.73 GAA with a 905 SV%.
Humboldt picked defenceman Dryden Deobald in the third round. Last year with the U18 AAA Regina Pat Canadians, in 43 games, the Regina product had 7 points (1G-6A).
Forward Owen Chapman was the Broncos pick in the fifth round. The Saskatoon product spent last year with the U18 AAA Saskatoon Contacts and had 25 points (5G-20A) in 44 games.
In the fifth round, Humboldt took a local product in Wyatt Fleishhacker. Last year in Martensville, the goaltender was 12-1-1 with a 1.68 GAA and 939 SV%.
Earlier in the first round of the 2009 portion of the draft, the La Ronge Ice Wolves selected Davidson defenceman Marek McIvor as the second overall selection. Last season with the U15 AA Humboldt Broncos. McIvor had 29 points (4G 25A) in 22 games.
He was an 8th round selection of the Kelowna Rockets in the 2024 WHL Prospects Draft.
