While the skies are expected to be cloudy today, the weekend is promising to be a sunny one. The nice weather could be a good time for people to take advantage of the conditions ahead of some less-than-ideal weather as we get closer to winter.
“I know everyone’s busy with the harvest and all that, but we have had some severe weather across parts of Saskatchewan this year, so now would be a great time to check that everything is okay,” suggested Natalie Hasell a meteorologist with Environment Canada. “Are all the shingles on your roof still there? Is there anything that needs to be fixed or looked at? Are there any complicated repairs that need to be done to your home?”
Hasell recommended using this time to handle some of those things that need the fair weather that need to be done ahead of the next season. She also recommended using the change of seasons to look at checking over any emergency kits that you have.
“Has anything changed? Has any of the medication expired? Do you need to swap out your water bottles?” she noted as questions you should ask yourself when looking over the emergency kits. She also recommended making sure that even things like what contact information people need to have are up-to-date in case things have changed over the course of the summer.
