Ribs, fun and community were the name of the game at the Living Sky Casino Ribfest this past weekend in support of the Dr. Noble Irwin Regional Healthcare Foundation.
Blazin BBQ, Billy Bones BBQ and Buckeye BBQ kept the crowds fed and entertained all weekend.
Customer Experience Manager with the casino, Ashley Peterson says that weather is always a factor but that didn't stop the community from coming out and they were very happy with the ribbers as well as the support for the community as well as sponsors and their partner the Dr. Noble Irwin Regional Healthcare Foundation.
Owner of Buckeye, Terry Gable says the weekend was a great success and well worth it.
"This weekend has been very good to us. It's always nice to come to Swift Current, see the community come out and also what Ashley said to help the cause of the non-profits."
Throughout the weekend the public voted along with a panel of 8 local celebrity judges on a number of awards as Peterson explains.
"All three rib trucks took away an award. We are very proud of them and the hard work they put in all weekend."
Best Ribs went to Billy Bones, people's choice went to Blazin and best sauce went to Buckeye
In regards to the award received Gable said it was a great award to win above all the other's as it was from the people themselves.
Throughout the weekend fundrasing occured for the Dr. Noble Iriwn Regional Healthcare Foundation which Peterson says went well with most sponsors coming on board again and they also sold 50/50 throughout the weekend and she hopes to have an idea of the total raised this coming week.
Gable added from the Western Canada Ribfest point of view it's always great to partner with the Living Sky Casino as they have always hosted them in a great venue and there's nothing more you could ask for from an organizer standpoint.
