Carnduff RCMP arrested a southeast man and charged him with 11 counts related to an alleged assault last week.
Members received a request for assistance at around 10 a.m. on October 23 for a rural property northwest of Glen Ewen.
When officers responded they determined that an adult female had been assaulted by an adult male, who turned out to be wanted on a warrant by the Carnduff RCMP for breaching court-ordered conditions. The male was arrested at the scene without incident.
After an investigation, officers found two firearms, ammunition, a pocket knife, approximately two grams of cocaine, and drug trafficking paraphernalia, which were seized from the property.
RCMP ended up charging 31-year-old Zachary Hillis from Carnduff with the following counts after the investigation:
- one count of possession of a firearm when knowing possession is unauthorized,
- two counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose,
- one count of unsafe storage of firearms,
- one count of assault,
- one count of uttering threats against a person,
- four counts of failure to comply with release order conditions,
- one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine,
Zachary Hillis has been scheduled to appear in Estevan Provincial Court on November 4.
