A 15-year councillor for the Town of Gull Lake has decided to run for mayor this year, hoping to do more for the community he's so passionate about.
Born and raised in Gull Lake, Nasser Zanidean currently works in the oil industry and is looking to bring an open, transparent attitude with years of experience to guide the town.
Zanidean has sat on an array of boards including the Town Council, the Gull Lake Rink Boards, the Elks Board, and the Ball Diamond Committee, along with both coaching and playing several sports.
"I've been on council for four terms now and I'm not ready to quit yet," he explained. "I've got a few other things I'd like to try to keep our community going."
The experienced board member noted that he hopes to focus on growth by supporting and developing current businesses, adding new businesses, and filling economic gaps.
"I'd really like to try and attract some new businesses to town," he said. "Just to look after our people in Gull Lake."
Zanidean's campaigning thus far has consisted of word-of-mouth and posters in the mailboxes of community members.
"I'd really like to see people come out and vote, and I would appreciate any support I can get," concluded the mayoral candidate.
Anyone interested in speaking with Zanidean can find him around town or call him at (306) 671 - 8122.
