A current town councillor and life-long resident of Gull Lake has decided to throw his name in to run for mayor this year.
Dennis Kirk is looking to bring accountability, a familiar face, and new ideas to the council if elected for mayor, looking to give the town more representation on both a regional and provincial level.
The father of three has also farmed, coached sports, sat on numerous local boards, and has been with the Gull Lake Fire Department for 19 years.
"I'd like to see a little more transparency as far as council meetings, it is available on our website but there are other ways we could make it more inviting or give the residents easier access to those minutes," he shared, hoping to increase community engagement.
Kirk noted that he believes in being held accountable for your actions and highlighted that the mayor is just one person, a great council is needed to achieve success.
"In the past four years we accomplished a lot of good things," said the mayoral candidate, underscoring last year's over-a-million-dollar paving project and the fairly recent water infrastructure improvements.
Kirk has been going door to door in his campaign and anyone interested in speaking with him can give him a call at (306) 671 - 0000.
