On Monday, November 11, Remembrance Day, the Airdrie Royal Canadian Legion’s Remembrance Day Ceremony will be hosted at Genesis Place (800 East Lake Boulevard Northeast).

The ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. and will end at noon, with doors opening at 9 a.m. Following the Genesis Place Ceremony, a brief ceremony will also be held at the city Cenotaph (near the Town and Country Centre).

What are other towns doing to commemorate November 11?

The Town of Crossfield will also host a ceremony at 10:30 a.m. at the Crossfield Community Center.

"The Crossfield Legion Branch #113 is set to host the annual Remembrance Day ceremony at the Crossfield Community Center once again. Commemorating the World War 1-ending armistice that occurred on November 11, 1918, this annual ceremony recognizes the sacrifices made by veterans across the nation, but also by those whose surnames are recognizable within our own community," The town stated.

Crossfield Legion members encourage our residents to join them in both recognition and support of our veterans.

The Carstairs Remembrance Day Ceremony will be held at the Hugh Sutherland School in the auditorium. The ceremony will begin at 10:30, with the doors opening at 9:30.

Didsbury's Remembrance Day Service will be held at the Zion Church and hosted by the 3025 Service Battalion RCACC. Doors open at 10 a.m. Other events include the Didsbury Elks Luncheon, which will be held at the Elks Hall immediately following the service, with lunch service continuing until 1:30 p.m. In the afternoon, there will be a Bells of Peace Sunset Program at the Didsbury Museum. The event begins at 4:45 p.m.; attendees are encouraged to arrive between 4:35 and 4:45 p.m.
