While other municipalities are going to the polls today, Kyle is still waiting for someone to step up as a potential mayor.
They do have an acclaimed town council that will hold a meeting tomorrow.
"At that meeting the acclaimed councillors will take their oath and then they will appoint a deputy mayor who will run the meeting," said Kyle CAO Amber Dashney. "They will decide on a byelection date and then from there the nomination day is set and we will post for the position of mayor and as well another councillor position as well."
The town has put out multiple calls for mayoral nominations, but no one has stepped forward as of yet.
"To be eligible for nomination, you must not be disqualified," Dashney said. "You must be 18 years of age, a Canadian citizen, a Saskatchewan resident for six months, and you also must reside in the municipality for three consecutive months prior to the day of submitting the nomination paper."
The new council includes Denise Schneider, Rach Risi, Doug Hodgins, Darryl Harbor, and Dennis Hall.
Outgoing mayor George Williams is retiring from the position that he's held since November 2021.
