11:30 PM: Hazlet has a new mayor.

Tara Dewar beat Andrew Johnson with 47 votes to 10. The rest of the village council was acclaimed in October.

There will be more southwest Saskatchewan election results throughout the day on Thursday.

11:00 PM: The Town of Herbert has released unofficial results from their election tonight.

"At this time, I will provide our initial count," said Herbert returning officer Michelle Mackow. "The count is too close for me to declare it tonight. A recount will be done in the morning.

"What a great turnout. The voters in the Town of Herbert should be proud with 333 voters."

For the position of mayor, incumbent Ron Mathies appears poised to stay in his position with 176 votes to 157 for Ron Becker.

Meanwhile, Herbert had three council positions up for grabs with four candidates.

9:10 PM: There are two new members of Swift Current city council. Final results are in as the four incumbents retained their seats on council, but they are joined by former councillor Bruce Deg and newcomer Courtney Stewart.

9:05 PM: Results are in from the RM of Excelsior No. 166.

In Division 1, Don Mathies beat Craig Steinley 33-15. In Division 5, Cole Peters topped Chaun Holfeld 31-6.

Harv Schulz was acclaimed as reeve. 

9:00 PM: The final results are in for the Swift Current portion of the Chinook School Division Board election and Ron Caswell has defeated incumbent board member Ken Duncalfe.

8:40 PM: We have our first updates from the Swift Current municipal election.

With mail-in ballots and special polls reporting, city workers have counted 229 ballots.

8 PM UPDATE: Polls are closed throughout southwest Saskatchewan as we await results in the municipal elections. Swift Current should report their results quickly, while the other local results may take until morning. 

Southwest Saskatchewan is going the polls today in the 2024 Municipal Election.

Cities, towns, rural municipalities and school boards throughout the province are electing their governing bodies.

SWIFT CURRENT

In Swift Current, Mayor Al Bridal was returned to office by acclamation. That means the only elections in the city will be for council and public school board.

There are ten candidates for six positions on council. 

There are five candidates running for three positions on the Chinook School Division Board.

RM OF SWIFT CURRENT

Results for the RM of Swift Current aren't expected to be available until the morning of Thursday, November 14th. 

The retirement of Robert Neufeld has opened the door for the position of reeve in the RM of Swift Current. There are three candidates running for the position.

SHAUNAVON

Results for Shaunavon are expected on November 14th. 

Shaunavon will be getting a fresh start with one of two candidates for mayor in today's election.

There are 18 candidates running for six positions on town council. 

GULL LAKE

Two candidates are vying to become the new mayor of Gull Lake. 

There are seven candidates for six spots on town council.

Results for Herbert are expected on November 14th.
