As the calendar turns to 2025, Souris-Moose Mountain MP Dr. Robert Kitchen reflects on his final months in office, having previously announced he would not seek re-election in the federal election, which must be held by October 20.

In an interview, the Conservative MP outlined his priorities for the remainder of his term, emphasizing his commitment to protecting the interests of his riding.

“The things that I’d like to get accomplished over these next few months are making certain that this government doesn’t create any more hardships for the riding and putting up any more roadblocks as we move forward, said Kitchen. “Those are the steps that we’re taking and trying to make certain that we don’t see this government putting in bad legislation.”

Some of those industries that are important for Kitchen include the agriculture sector, as well as some of the resource sectors such as oil & gas, and potash.

This year will also be the final year that Kitchen will be serving as the MP for the region. This past July, it was announced Kitchen would not be seeking re-election when the nation goes back to the polls. The next federal election will be held on, or before, October 20th of this year.
