The Rosetown/Kyle RCMP issued their latest report on Thursday, a new year's report for the period between December 27, 2024, and January 2, 2025. All of the calls inside the report took place prior to the start of January as members saw a clean slate over the first two days of 2025.
December 27 began with a callout just before 10:00 AM to provide traffic control as a vehicle was removed from the ditch. Later that afternoon police responded to a motor vehicle collision east of town on Highway #7, where no injuries were reported.
That same afternoon Rosetown RCMP located and gave a warning to an erratic driver, and then the final call of the day a few hours later saw Kyle members dealing with a collision with a deer on Highway #7, that was only reported for insurance purposes.
The only call on December 28 saw Rosetown members make an unsuccessful attempt in tracking down a suspicious vehicle near Lucky Lake. That call came just prior to midnight, as the first call for December 29 also took members to Lucky Lake, attending a wellbeing check in the community just after 12:00 PM.
A few hours later on December 29, Rosetown RCMP tracked down an erratic driver on Highway 7, leading to a 60-year-old Rosetown male being charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle. Later that evening, Rosetown RCMP got word of another collision with deer, this time on Highway #4, also reported for insurance.
Another busy day on December 30 started with Kyle RCMP receiving a traffic complaint on Highway #7 at around 10:30 AM. Kyle members were called back to service that afternoon following reports of a suspicious vehicle at a rural location, issuing two traffic tickets as a result. Kyle RCMP then received another report just before 5:00 PM, attending the scene of a motor vehicle collision on Highway 7.
The final day of 2024 provided three more calls for the report. On December 31, Rosetown RCMP began investigation into a car theft at 6:30 AM, at around 2:00 PM Kyle members attended a wellbeing check in Rosetown, and then finally just after 11:00 PM Rosetown members finished out the calls to service by responding to another wellbeing check in Rosetown.
There was a total of 37 traffic related charges during the week, joining one false alarm call.
