National Tissue and Organ Donation Month comes to a close

April 30 marked the final day of promoting increased awareness around tissue and organ donations in Canada. Anyone can become either an organ or tissue donor easily, a potentially lifesaving decision, as one organ donor can save up to eight lives, and one tissue donor can impact the lives of up to 75 people.
RCMP reminding drivers to reduce speed in spring like weather
People might be apt to hit the gas pedal a little heavier now that roads are beginning to clear up around the region. No, the spring weather doesn't mean you can punch it, shared a local RCMP detachment in their latest report.
The Biggar RCMP dealt with 42 occurrences during the past week, most having to do with traffic related incidents.
Electric pep rally moment in Rosetown sets up great weekend of basketball
Rosetown Central High School is home to a pair of SHSAA 3A conference basketball tournaments this weekend.
The boys side gets underway with two games Friday night, before continuing the action on Saturday alongside the girls, leading up to each side's respective conference finals. The boys bracket includes Rosetown, Outlook, Delisle, Biggar, Clavet, and Watrous, while the girls bracket features Rosetown, Eatonia, Shaunavon, and Maple Creek.
Saskatchewan Teachers' Federation assumes new Executive Director
The Saskatchewan Teachers Federation has a new executive director. Angela Banda, the former Associate Executive Director – Labour Relations with the STF, replaced current Executive Director Bobbi Taillefer effective February 3.

Rosetown/Kyle RCMP tackle multiple incidents to start 2025
It has been a steady mix of calls for the Rosetown and Kyle RCMP to start the year. The latest report encompasses the period between January 3-9, 2025.
The first call of note in the report took officers to an abandoned vehicle parked on a grid road near Zealandia. Members located the vehicle and eventually spoke to the registered owner, who shared the vehicle was just waiting on a tow truck.
Rosetown/Kyle RCMP see bustling end to 2024
The Rosetown/Kyle RCMP issued their latest report on Thursday, a new year's report for the period between December 27, 2024, and January 2, 2025. All of the calls inside the report took place prior to the start of January as members saw a clean slate over the first two days of 2025.
December 27 began with a callout just before 10:00 AM to provide traffic control as a vehicle was removed from the ditch. Later that afternoon police responded to a motor vehicle collision east of town on Highway #7, where no injuries were reported.
Be safe when ice fishing this Christmas
There are tons of different ways to spend time outdoors during the Christmas holidays. One of the best chances to sit back and relax while still keeping engaged in an activity is ice fishing!
While most lakes and fishing holes should be more than frozen in by now, it's still smart to remind winter anglers of the potential hazards of ice fishing. General rules state that 4 inches of ice is enough to support a person, 8 inches is enough to take on a snowmobile, 12 inches enough for an up to 2-ton automobile, and then 12 inches or more is recommended for heavy trucks.
Reminder: Hungry bears headed for hibernation
With a strong end to the summer on the minds for many before fall returns, a certain population in Saskatchewan is already looking forward to the winter.
"Summer is a great time for people to be outdoors, enjoying the weather and all that nature has to offer in our beautiful province." read a Sask. Ministry of Environment release on Monday, "However, it's also an important time for black bears to maintain and build their fat stores in preparation for winter."
