A bi-annual sold out event returns January 30th to the Living Sky Casino with the upcoming Durrum Summit.

Chairperson for the summit Robert Chapman details why it makes sense for the event to be held here in Swift Current.

"When you look at the durum area in Western Canada and you wonder why people want to come to an event in Swift Current, there's about six million acres growing in Western Canada. A little over a million in Southern Alberta and the rest in Saskatchewan. And within 200km of Swift Current you will find half that acreage."

In addition, Chapman says that when you look at what facilities are built here to transform logistics from guys growing their crop on the farm and what's out here in Swift Current to get that turned into an export product.

Chapman provides details on what those attending the summit can expect.

"Talk about the current state of the market with Kevin Hursh and Marlene Boersch. We will also talk about the research being done. Dr. Ron DePauw is going to run a panel that will cover most all of the research projects that are on the go. Idea is to highlight to growers so they know what scientists are working on and offer feedback and questions."

The end of the summit will conclude with a fireside chat pulling everyone together, so market analysts involved, a little on transportation and what they think about the testing we do, according to Chapman.

A few tickets remain and anyone interested can find out more information and purchase a ticket here
