The annual Arnal Boys 3 on 3 Memorial Hockey Tournament and their annual bursaries serve as a time of reflection, healing and helping for the Arnal family.
Applications for the Arnal Boys Memorial Bursary for young farmers are being accepted until February 1st and Chantal Henderson family member and one of the directors of the bursaries provides further details.
"What the bursary does, it provides funds to students who are interested in agriculture. They have to be between the ages of 8 and 18. Priority is given to students in Chinook School Division, and they need to have an agricultural project or endeavor or some type of education they are working towards in agriculture."
The funds raised from the tournament taking place February 14th, 15th and 16th in Eastend will go to support the bursaries as it does each year. Henderson says they are still looking for interested teams of 7 and provides details on the different age groups.
"For the hockey tournament there are three different age groups. We are accepting hockey teams for people 12 and under, 13–18-year-olds and then adult teams as well."
Henderson adds that the plan is have a supper and dance in the evening with the proceeds going to the Eastend Memorial Hall. In addition, a live auction will be taking place around 4pm on Saturday with the proceeds also going towards the bursaries.
