The Blackfalds RCMP Detachment received 134 calls for service during the week of January 21 to January 27, 2025.
These calls included 2 Assaults, 1 Criminal Harassment, 2 Frauds, 1 Mischief, 6 Thefts, 1 Theft of Motor Vehicle, and 37 Motor Vehicle Collisions.
January 21
- Due to high wind and blowing snow 15 motor vehicle collisions were responded to or reported within the jurisdiction.
- Police are investigating a rental scam in which an individual sent a deposit to someone they believed to be a realtor.
January 22
- A call was received of a stolen vehicle in a barn in Red Deer County. Police attended and confirmed the vehicle was stolen. The registered owner was notified that it had been recovered and the vehicle was towed.
- A business in Blackfalds reported a shoplifter in the store. Police attended and located the individual. They were issued a Trespass Notice.
- It was reported that an SUV had been stolen from a residence sometime overnight in Blackfalds. The vehicle has not yet been recovered.
January 23
- Police were requested to do a well-being check on an individual in Blackfalds because their vehicle had not moved all winter. The individual was located safe and well.
- A female reported that two suspicious males had followed her to her residence in Red Deer County. The matter is under investigation.
January 24
- Police, Fire, and EMS attended the 911 call of a single-vehicle rollover in Lacombe County. The driver was transported to the hospital by EMS with non-fatal injuries.
- A call was received of a three-vehicle collision in Red Deer County. Police attended and determined one of the drivers had made an unsafe left turn causing the other vehicles to collide. A violation ticket was issued.
January 25t
- It was reported that a female holding a toddler was walking on a roadway in Gasoline Alley and the caller was concerned for their wellbeing. Police attended and located them. They were given a ride to a safe location.
- A 911 call was received of a female uttering threats and indecent exposure that occurred in Red Deer County. The matter is under investigation.
January 26
- One male was arrested and charged for an Assault that occurred in Lacombe County. He was released on an Undertaking with no contact conditions.
- A complaint was received of harassment and identity theft that has been occurring in Lacombe County.
January 27
- It was reported that an attempted theft and damage to a vehicle had occurred sometime overnight in Blackfalds. Someone broke the lock on the door, damaged the ignition, and stole various items. The matter is under investigation.
- Police are investigating the complaint of a disturbance that occurred at a motel in Gasoline Alley.
